SAS sponsors Ice Project

Post by Graeme » Mon Feb 03, 2014 7:54 am

SAS Watch Company Ltd, is extremely pleased to announce our partnership with Mike O'Shea and Clare O'Leary Ireland's leading explorers. Mike and Clare will set off on an expedition to the North Pole on foot the equivalent to two marathons a day in temperatures of -20C to -60C (-4F to -76F) !! They will travel 778Kms over 60 days pulling sledges with all their supplies and equipment. They will also be wearing SAS watches that have been prepared by watch-making legend John McGonigle to withstand the freezing temperatures. Each watch has been completely stripped down, serviced, and re oiled using oils specially developed for freezing conditions.

You can find out more about the LIFEPROOF ICE PROJECT and Mike and Clare on their website The Ice Project and their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TheIceProject

I will post up photos to this thread as I get them and we will be following their expedition on our website.

We wish Clare and Mike a safe journey and look forward to their speedy return.

This sounds awesome. For those that havent heard of them, the McGonigle brothers are the real deal and build truly grail worthy watches.
Graeme, don't go all Mike Kobold on us now and raise your prices 400%.

Very cool. Looking forward to following; can't say that I know much about polar exploration, polar moments or even polar moments of inertia, but I'm happy to watch! Congrats!

I, personally, could go for a $600 knife that looks like a junior high shop project.

That's cool! I look forward to following this. Given the winter we've had here a polar expedition seems right up our street!

great Graeme - lets see pics of the watches!

“To absent friends, lost loves, old gods, and the season of mists; and may each and every one of us always give the devil his due.”
― Neil Gaiman, The Sandman

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And If I have trouble the warranty said
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
