Dievas, the Shadow, little review...

Post by vegaban » Tue Jun 18, 2013 2:34 am

Fighting in the Shadow...

Image

The Shadow, the tactical diver of Dievas evokes concealed operations, hidden in the darkness, the risk, adrenaline ...

Image

Withn a 45mm case by 54mm long and 22mm lugs, manufactured by CNC in Germany and with the 6steel coating that gives big resistance to scratching and corrosion ...

Image

We have a powerful 500M diver, with crown at 8:30 and Helium valve at 10 ...

Image

The watch comes with a rubber strap with folding clasp and wetsuit extension...

Image

Image

... But this particular unit, as will travel from "hand to hand", comes with a black Nato, which applies to any measure of wrist ..

Image

... Although we "played" a bit with the color and other straps... :headbang:

Image

An awesome case should be closed with no less powerful screwed back...

Image

That protects the movement ... ETA 2824-2 Dievas custom rotor with DLC coating. The movement is factory adjusted to 5 positions ...

Image

As you can see in the photos, the readability is great, the yellow / green indexes and hands will make you to be the center of attention at any meeting ... Very cool in the darkness too...

Image

And on the wrist ...

Image

In brief description:

Caliber: ETA 2824-2 with custom rotor with DLC finishing, adjusted in 5 positions
Dial: Black with black legends. Index in fluorescent yellow Superluminova
Hands: pilot type SL coated fluorescent yellow
Case: Black coated 6steel Dievas
Bezel: Uni-directional with 60 clicks. Index for first 15 min with yellow SL
Crown: 5mm screwdown
Crystal: Sapphire domed. AR
Water resistant to 500M
Price: $ 1430

What I liked: The originality of the concept, is dark and colorful at the same time.
Seems one of the "flagships" of the brand, meticulously detailed. The coating 6steel makes you not have to be afraid to wear a watch "black", with little care, the finish will not deteriorate. It is a magnet of glances, even in people not fond of. For how big it is, it is comfortable to wear.

What I did not like or could be improved: The shape of the needles do not convince me, straight ones I think would be better (Although these pilot type hands appear to be "house brand" the three watches we will review use them, with slight variations). The domed glass, that makes a very nice profile, ruins the antireflection effect, rendering it useless.

Overall I found very attractive and I thank the kindness of the brand for lending the watches.

I dig that beast, this is more tactical than some of that other crap out there.

And thankfully they didn't put some kind of wannabe tactical name on it.

I really wish they had just used the dial and hands from the Focal in the black case. That would have been a winner.

Not bad looking. Is this still Fricker's case?

They are supposedly making their own cases now. I have no idea if this is true but the case on my Focal(just traded) was much nicer than any of the three Kobolds I owned.

I think that would be a fun watch. Priced at a grand, I'd say that's about right too. Wish some other brands would reconsider their pricing structure. To Dievas' credit, I don't believe they blatantly copied anybody else on this one. Thanks for the post and the great pictures... Now about that video...'

Sorry, but it is the truth. I still prefer the Kobold design aesthetic, but their materials and workmanship are sub par.

I used to own SMG 1 and found the case was "sharpy" on the edge, not as smooth. But then, KOBOLD Seal case was smooth. I wonder was the sharp edges were intentional.

Nice looking watch a bit different to all the others and looks good with the silicon strap.

Dievas makes good looking watches but they're too damn big. 42mm or even 43mm would be better for a lot of guys. Anything over that and its a puck.
