Watches under $1000 you still enjoy to wear?

Post by Panerai7 » Sun Oct 20, 2013 8:26 am

Summer is over here in the South.
I can finally wear leather straps and not sweat to death.
This morning I reminded myself after putting a leather strap on this watch that you don't have have to spend a lot of money to enjoy this hobby.

Please post what mechanical watch you still occasionally wear and enjoy that's under 1K or thereabouts.

No pics on my phone right now, but I've got the SAS Sea-01, Halios Tropik-B (with the SAS Air and Tropik SS inbound). Then there's also the AEgir CD-2 for a bit more.

I love having them around and enjoy wearing then as much as anything else. And all we're purchased new. Great prices on great pieces.

Sweet bronze watch  but aren't they like 1400 bones or did you find a sweet deal in the used market?

Great point. I wouldn't own it if I didn't enjoy wearing it, regardless of price.

Great point Andy, there are many watches under a 1000 bucks that are fabulous watches, if we go around that price I could throw in my Stowa Pro Diver and its built as well as most of the watches I own! Kind of thread you would see at TRF

This Hamilton Super-Compressor from the mid-sixties was one of my first vintage watches, and still a watch I use regularly:

Still got some lume left:

This Croton Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver is from 1969. Inside the Valjoux 7733 movement, also used in a bunch of vintage Heuers and Breitlings:

The dial has become dark brown because of sun exposure. It is nice to have a vintage watch that looks like it has lived a little.

Both of these are possible to find for under a $1,000.

No pics yet, but I just picked up a vintage Doxa 300T Searambler for under a grand. Looking forward to wearing it on a Micah strap I've had for awhile but haven't been using.

My two "go-to " beaters well under $500 much less $1k - two watches I want under $1k are the Helson Bronson and a blue dial Halios Laguna.
