What's next?

Post by lilhoody » Thu Jul 18, 2013 9:47 pm

Similar to Jae's regret thread. I'm always curious where people are heading. I thought I was content, but this week I moved two watches, in pursuit of another and also put a deposit down on another. What this should leave me is:

-Original Kobold SEAL
-Modern Kobold SEAL
-Rolex 1675
-Rolex 114060
-Omega 2254

Solid collection, but I'm not a collector. So, where will will this take me? What is next?

-IWC Big Pilot
Image
-Bremont, various
Image
-Omega PloProf

Images from google
I think I would prefer a vintage Ploprof.

What would I like to reacquire?
-Rolex 14060 (if this escapade ends up being a mistake)

So, where are you headed?

Three on my radar.

Sinn U1 SDR
Tudor Pelagos
Aegir CD-2

I'd love to see a U1 in person to see if I'm comfortable with the size. Hopefully there will be a Pelagos at a nearby dealer this fall to try, and all I've got to go by on the CD-2 is what I read, so that one might be a gamble. I need to move some stuff to make room anyway, so it will be a while till anything comes my way.

My want list seems to keep growing, but here's a handful near the top:

- JLC Deep Sea Chrono
- Sinn 142 Schwarz
- Panerai PAM 372
- Maybe a DOXA like the 1200T

Damn, I forgot the JLC NS Alarm. I don't miss the chrono at all, but I would love to try the alarm.

Sinn UX or Resco RC-TAC next for me....when the dust settles.
Just blew the cost of either one on a rare dial and complete service for the 666.
Down the road a GMT II.

These are pie in the sky right now but it's taken me two years or so to narrow down my grail list to four watches. It still means selling a Chronoswiss Lunar Calendar and a Sinn 757 UTC.

I haven't flipped to rent like a lot of guys here but my selections have been made based on multiple AD visits over time.

Dress Watch - JLC Master Grande Ultra Thin RG
Daily Wear Diver - Grand Seiko Spring Drive Air Diver SBGA029
Chronograph - Speedmaster Professional (already have this keeper)
Field Watch - Panerai Radiomir Black Seal 292

Immediate - 0-6 months & affordableish:

Sinn U2, know Zack has one at a killer price, but 0 watch $ right now.

Immediate -12 months bigger purchase:

PAM 25, 243 or possibly 29M, tend to lean towards GMT's

Certainly at the end of 2014:

216570 Noir.

We've had some major outgoings in the past 18 months. New house purchase, new pool & landscaping, and a few other large expenses coming in the near future. So the watch funds are very skint.

All of this has been for the better, but until a few things come to fruition business wise I'm currently holding off & I'm enjoying what I have watch wise right now.

Fortunately I'm getting my watch fix right here. Cheers Jules

Realistically (in no particular order):

PAM 305
PAM 285
Blacksteel Super Avenger
JLC NS Incursion Alarm (Adam C'Note I'm still tops on the list right?!?!?! )
IWC Top Gun Doppelchronograph 3799-01
IWC Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium

I really want to add a Deep Sea Sea Dweller to this list but I just can't get past that abomination of a bracelet. :smack:

The other list is way to long and too expensive and too depressing :banghead:

I'm content with what I have, but I could see trading off the Bond SMP chrono and getting another Speedmaster. Part of me still wants another DOXA, and every time I look at those cheap Seiko divers I think about ordering one. I've had several and they are fun watches that scratch the itch and can be flipped easily.

Darin, go for the BP. Do it. If I recall you have wanted it for a long time.

For me, Rolex GMT ..... still.

I continue to wrangle with the choice of model - should it be a 16750 or 16710?. Today I lean toward the 16710, tomorrow who knows.

Realistically it has been a debate about if I want to spend the money or not, then boring reason drives away the desire :crybaby:
