Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
So I've been drawn to the Aquatimer and been checking out the white dial model mostly though I like others, it's just the one I seem to be the most drawn to.
Been contemplating my next move.. trying a Pam 000 ( I own a Pam already), a bremont (few models I like incl SM500), a Tudor sub perhaps the Pelagos or BB....
But I stumbled upon a couple of very clean white Aquatimer, one on rubber only but pretty much new and this one which has both Bracelet and rubber at $3700...
http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... sg_6346793
If you've owned or handled the IW AT, what are your thoughts? is it worth the $? Does it wear its size or smaller/larger on the wrist? I am aware of the prop lug set up and am fine with that as I like both the bracelet and rubber.
Thanks
B

I don't think 3700 for a clean one a bracelet is too bad (but I don't follow prices closely). I've handled the watch many times, and it screams quality.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
That is not a bad price at all for one with a bracelet. Buying the bracelet on it's own can be very expensive.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I have tried one on briefly and agree it is quality. my only concern is you are limited to OEM bracelet/rubber. for some that may not be a big deal, but I prefer the ability to run through lots of strap options if I choose. that being said, the bracelet is top notch by itself.
Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
The 3568s are solid as all get out. The white dial wears very large. $3700 isn't bad, but not great (sold my 3568-05 for under $3K last year). FWIW, I'd rather have a Pelagos for that money.

Great watch that I wanted to like more than I did once I bought one.
Wish the center links weren't polished, and, as pointed out, that aftermarket straps fit the case.
But, don't put much value in the opinion of someone who can't seem to keep a watch.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I owned the AT white dial one on rubber-wish I still had it...
Bracelets new go for $1500...
$3700 isn't a bad price for one with the bracelet...
The rubber strap unlike some brands actually fits a normal wrist size...
I am think about athe new blue chrono...
I might shoot for $3500...
Mike
p.s. I think Rahul (Dukerules) got his for $2700- still one of the great all time deals..

I think they are the bee's knees. The finishing on them is tops, I would suggest better than a PAM 000. I have had three AT's, none have disappointed. The AT 2000 wears much like a U1/UX/U2; the bezel overhand makes it appear larger than it measures. The lug taper/angle, make them fit me like a glove.
Straps aren't my thing, so their proprietary sytem and options are fine. I've not had the bracelet on the current At's, nor would I want one. The rubber is sweet.
I also agree $3,700 isn't bad, nor is it great. Good luck, I think you should try it, otherwise you will always wonder.
PS: I love then AT's, Adam's Galapagos is my next watch.

I've owned the black/yellow one and tried on the white dial at Feldmar (back when they carried IWC). I loved the white one and it was always on my list. The watch is a lovely piece, but the proprietary strap system keep me from pulling the trigger. If it had normal lugs I'd be wearing a white one now.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I don't know much about them-never even seen one in person. I do know that many of the ballers here have had one in the past and wanted the bracelet but it was hard to find and expensive-like pretty much everyone else has said. I specifically remember Roar wanting the bracelet and how pricey it was once he found one.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I had a black and yellow 3568 and it screamed quality, thanks to the short lugs it sat nicely on my 6.75" wrist. Only had the watch on rubber but know the bracelet is very nice. I am sure you would dig it. Kind regards,

I'm the contrarian.
Go for a tudor black bay or pelagos.
I have been underwhelmed every time I have tried on. And the proprietary strap system is a deal killer to me.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I wasn't too keen on them when they were first released, but I have since come around after getting to see and handle them in person. My favorite remains the Galapagos chrono, but the white dial AT 2000 is a close second. Yes, the proprietary strap system can be an issue for the strap whores amongst us (they are legion 'round these parts), but for me the OEM rubber (my favorite look for these watches), bracelet (now fully brushed) and velcro (very cool) are all I'd ever need.
And then there's the lume:

All-in-all, its a solid, capable, attractive dive from a top-tier manufacture; what's not to like?

It has to be said - having handled Darin's, I found the bezel action superb. Something about how IWC does it I really like.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
Finishing worthy of IWC. I enjoyed the time with the 3767-04, but I wouldn't pay $3700 for the non-chrono, personally (even on bracelet).
Fun pit-stop along the way, but not a keeper for me.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
Price is ok for both bracelet amd rubber.
The watch is very very nice, no doubt about that. Screams quality in every respect.

I thought 3700 was a bit high plus Paypal fees
We'll see. So much out there in that price range.

Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I've always liked the look of the AT2000 in all its colour combinations. The white dial version is one of my all time favourites.
Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
Brice I have tried to like that AT but never could. Lume looks great. It's not too big really. Just never did anything for me. I've had 3 or 4 of them in various types. A lot of people like them though. Price wise $3500 would be a steal, $3600 good and $3700 OK. Don't waste money on pp fees if you can avoid it. The rubber is worth at least $150 - $200. Some people find the bracelet uncomfortable. For me I'm much happier with the older 3536 I picked up recently (3rd time I had the same exact one - also Drew had it)
Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
I have passed up on the AT2000 a couple of times .. one BNIB for 3100 on rubber and another 2700 white dial on rubber .. IMO, the watch won't be a keeper for you .. Better find one under 3K on rubber and keep ur loss to a minimum when flipping.
Re: Thoughts? IWC Aquatimer
Man I loved the 3536-01. I wouldn't nesc. consider it a regret; can't even remember what it was sacrificed for...but GD it was one helluva watch. I'd take another, yes I would.aboen wrote:Next to the VAT the SS/Ti 3536 are AT top dogs IMO.drster wrote:Brice I have tried to like that AT but never could. Lume looks great.
