1967 Black Lung....noticed something different
I never even did a thread on this bad boy, but it is pure vintage goodness. It is like the original owner took it out on special occasions only over 40 years. It does not appear to have ever been polished, but still looks outstanding with it's flea bites and small marks.
The domed crystal is one of my favorite features. Much like a 5513, it gives you that slight distortion which in my opinion give the face an interesting depth.
The face, and in particular the Aqua-lung logo are still rich with no aging or moisture damage....almost day 1 new. I learned something different, the first run of the 300's have a lume pip at the date wheel! I've never seen that before!
Of course, all the accessories make it unique....made it 45 years!
Anyway, thanks officially to Ron for letting me continue the stewardship of this special piece.

Looks like you have a keeper. Nice
Re: 1967 Black Lung....noticed something different
Until I saw this one, I didn't know Doxa made a plexi sub. Awesome! I want one.
Re: 1967 Black Lung....noticed something different
And the womens' Doxa's have that lume pip near the date wheel, don't they?

Noticed that dot when I first got it, first I had seen of it anywhere.
Great pics of it.

That is a seriously gorgeous piece Mike. As nice as a 5513 or vintage SM300, I say.

She's beautiful for sure, love the details...what is the history/background of the Black Lung?
Re: 1967 Black Lung....noticed something different
Love it! Makes me long for one with that thinner case and crystal.
Re: 1967 Black Lung....noticed something different

Re: 1967 Black Lung....noticed something different
From what I understand, these were the very first....almost prototype run of the 300's. The are no records, but they quickly transitioned to the single color (balck) logo on the US models in the same year. The lume pip at the date wheel disappeared later as well.
It has been suggested that the 11 or so black lung that have surfaced may truly be prototypes, or promotional items at the inception of the US Divers relationship.
I'm not sure, but it makes for good stories!

Makes me want to run out and buy another Doxa! (well, almost...)
They are such comfortable and distinct watches.

I thought this was just another Doxa you blew some one for and had a plexi crystal install for a reach around.

I love that watch. Even more than any 300T SR. That is a freakin' beauty, Mike. DO NOT let this one go.

WOW !
Really hot timepiece Mike !
Big congrats to that very rare US Divers Doxa.
On the back there are no numbers or anything like that. Only the DOXA-Ship.
And the non standard bezel markings.
I like the dark Aqualung US Divers Logo.
And the condition is really very good.
Is that the original DOXA box in the backround ?

That is an incredible vintage, Mike. Simply beautiful. Must be nice to find an additional unexpected detail. And it has some amazing details...starting with the dome. I just love the dome.
This one you need to keep!
But when you're ready to flip it, you know who to reach out to.
Just kidding...well sort of kidding.

Mike, put me in the want-to-buy queue if and when you decide to move it on. Seriously.
