I see its marking its territory!

Felt appropriate to leave this here.

^^^ that's a mic drop. Have always wanted an FJ60/62. Have actually had a few opportunities to buy, but it was never the right time financially, and I do worry about rust. Yours is beautiful.

I have had the good fortune over the years to own a couple of the older D90’s and a couple Disco’s many years ago. I have always loved the defenders. So going into retirement this just seemed right. Comfort, utilitarian and just the right amount of style. Congrats on yours as well. They are amazing.jtbenson wrote:i got tired of waiting for bronco, so went back to my original impulse

She’s fun, and is my DD (for now). Main reason is that my weekly commute to where I workout/work is less than 100 miles total, so I put very few miles on her per year.
Regarding rust, you won’t find a single example without at least some. Mine is a pretty clean and good example, but she has some in the usual spots, and is not “rot” or eaten through, which helps.

She does that from time to time. She keeps most of it under control though.amckiwi wrote:I see its marking its territory!

thanks
yeah, i had my heart set on a 90 originally but just got tired of waiting.
now that i've driven the 110 a few days i'm glad i pulled the trigger early.
easy to navigate/park, fits in the garage just fine, and there's gobs of storage in back with the seats folded down.

Re: 2021 Ford Bronco Release - 7/13
Now you've got me looking at the Defender. Realistically it's not an option though, because this is technically replacing my wife's vehicle, and she wants a convertible. It's not even comparable, but we're cross shopping an M240i convertible.. My Ranger will take us anywhere we want to go, so I don't really "need" a Bronco. Ford has reservation holders revolting today, they "fixed" the build and price tool and most people's (mine included) builds increased in price. Thus my diversion to the Land Rover site. This rollout from Ford has truly been a clusterfuck.

A buddy of mine here just got rid of his all-black 110 and got a navy D90. I’m going to try and borrow it for a week at some point, as I’m thinking about getting one, which would push the FJ62 out.jtbenson wrote:thanks

That's beautiful. I built a 90, but that was definitely my color choice, I love that green and the black wheels. I'd definitely drive that.jtbenson wrote:jswing wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:27 pmNow you've got me looking at the Defender. I'm tempted to trade my old one in on a new one, but people seem to still not be liking the new 3.7 liter motor / 6 speed auto trans combo. My second gen. 4 liter V-6 and old school 4 speed auto trans may not be the most fuel efficient, but it works flawlessly.

It’s sure to be a “lifer”.
don’t care how much it costs to own long term, i will drive this thing into the ground with me.
i think it will age well aesthetically, but air suspension/computer controlled diffs will be spendy to maintain.
i’ve made peace with that, and hope to put many, many miles on while i can.
test drive one if you can. it’s really, really good.

It’s definitely loaded with that “special something”, which helps offset the future operating expense.
If I didn’t have the Grand Cherokee and it’s lifetime warranty, I’d be seriously looking at one like yours. Much cooler for sure, but wouldn’t make sense for me right now.
