Ming 18.01 H41 Diver coming Aug 7th

Post by pbj204 » Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:10 pm

We have good news! The 18.01 H41, our production diver, is nearly ready for launch.

From customer feedback and as part of our continuing efforts to improve the purchasing experience, we’re going to try something different: we will split this year’s production into two ordering windows to give customers in different timezones or with scheduling conflicts an alternate opportunity to purchase.

Batch 1: 150 watches, available 7 August 2020 at 1PM GMT, or:

6AM San Francisco
9AM New York
2PM London
3PM Geneva
5PM Dubai
9PM Kuala Lumpur
11PM Melbourne

Batch 2: 130 watches, available 22 August 2020 at 2AM GMT, or:
7PM 21 August San Francisco
10PM 21 August New York
3AM 22 August London
4AM 22 August Geneva
6AM 22 August Dubai
10AM 22 August Kuala Lumpur
12PM 22 August Melbourne
A few reminders about the ordering process:

Watches will be available at www.ming.watch.

We will email everybody on the mailing list when we open for order - but due to limited control over servers and syncing, we cannot guarantee the emails will arrive exactly on time - a calendar reminder might be best. Please also ensure that hello@ming.watch is added to your address book to avoid losing notifications to spam.

We are unable to do cart holds, so if a transaction times out halfway through because of stock issues, we apologise in advance but there is simply no way to implement cart holds at this time.

We are only able to accept payments via VISA and MasterCard. We recommend informing your bank about the transaction to avoid hiccups during the checkout process.

Full details of the 18.01 H41 will be available at launch on 7 August, but we can leave you with a few headline stats: 40mm, 1km, 12.9mm, grade 5 titanium, ceramic lume, with pricing from CHF 2,950.

Really doesn't look like other watches. It's funky, but not crazy. Which is
neatl ! ..Thanks a ton for both the info, along with links Paul, and Andrew !!! :) :)

This brand seems to be cashing in on the FOMO culture. I don't see the draw. The name is awful and the designs are questionable - like something you'd get out of one of those catalogs on an airplane

I just had to look up "FOMO" - it would certainly help to explain a lot of the craziness in watch culture/market (and I'm sure other places) In the last couple of years in particular.

And a good explanation of this piece of I don't know what selling out so quickly...

fwiw, i like it better than a lot of the horrifically expensive dreck that is on Hodinkee.

i mean, i get that there's a lot of mechanical technology going into that thing, but it's just fucking ugly (IMSVHO). and $158K.

Its it a 'Ming-er '? I do like the design language of Ming watches that they have carried through on all pieces and even this dive watch works as a Ming watch but does it work as a dive watch? No!

I hate the name, sorry, i know its named after a person but in contrast, Dan Henry for example seems ok.

The name always reminds me of 90s UK slang, minger, for an ugly girl. Although in all fairness, you could probably have more fun with a minger than a Ming....

And now I have said Ming so many times it sounds really stupid

I’m in the minority.

I think it’s pretty cool and unique.

Had Ming watches in the past and done really well.

“To absent friends, lost loves, old gods, and the season of mists; and may each and every one of us always give the devil his due.”

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong

If the quick sell out is an indication, at least you'll probably be able to flip it without issue.

That's my thought exactly, worst case I'll flip for a maybe a nice profit.

same. I saw the first version in NYC a while back. It was cool but not for me. the owner kept talking about how exclusive it was. so it was a turn off for sure. :nutkick:

I am in the minority as well. I don’t care for the brand, but I like the design. It’s taking a minimalist look to the diver (a usually busy) style - and I like it a lot. I saw this after the first batch released. I won’t pay over msrp for it, but will take a shot for batch 2.
