Haven't posted in a while, so here's my 2 new rides
Been a while. I poked my head in on occasion but haven't felt like I had much to contribute. So, I'm going to contribute a self centered, look-at-me-and-what-i-bought thread that's of no surprise to a few regulars here
So, anyway, very quickly, I got a pretty killer deal on a Salsa Rangefinder Deore 27.5+ and rode it for a couple weeks before some knucklehead kid that didn't know how to navigate city streets with a 20' flatbed trailer took the front end off my 2010 Pathfinder while making an illegal left turn in front of me [*phew* deep breath]. I was stopped dead with nowhere to go.
My father very graciously lent me his '06 C6 that was in the garage at home while they were at the lake for a week. It was fun. It tried to kill me. I think it'll kill me with skin cancer, not a fiery crash
But you can't haul mt bikes and/or 2 mastiffs with a Corvette (plus driving the thing is slightly nerve-wracking). I found a killer deal on a comparatively low mileage 2016 4runner SR5. It's soooooooo much more comfortable to commute in than the Pathfinder. I'll miss having a heated steering wheel come January but this is a far and away better vehicle
Ok, here's the pix-

I wish they would redesign the Taco front end to look like the 4Runner

thanks guys the Salsa is way more comfortable and nimble than the Scott Aspect 29er it replaces. way more bottle bosses for overnight bags than the Scott, too.
the runner is more aggressive than the Taco. it wouldn't have prevented me from getting a Taco, tho. it was the back seats in regards to our 2 mastiffs- they wouldn't have fit well in the back of a 4dr Taco and the bed is no place for them at their age (also, NE winters)

Congrats Erik! Both rides look great. Before settling on the Taco, I was really thinking about a 4Runner. Still would like for my wife to pick one up (or a Bronco ), once her Highlander dies, or we get bored with it.
That Salsa looks really nice. I also ride a hardtail, but from Trek. More than enough for the type of riding I do. A lot of people have recommended that I change to a 1x9 or 1x10 drivetrain, as I currently have 2x9 in my Trek. How is the 1x11 performing for you on the road?

I didn't have time to respond properly earlier and thought about your question while riding with my son a couple hrs ago. My 29er was a 3x, my fatbike is a 2x.. I do not miss theJoeprez wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 9:35 amCongrats Erik! Both rides look great. Before settling on the Taco, I was really thinking about a 4Runner. extra gears. Matter of fact, I'm going to convert the fatbike to 1x. The gearing on the Salsa is amazing. Most of the time I'm cruising flats in #3 or 4. I say embrace the weight reduction and free up space for a dropper lever (I don't know how I got by without a dropper this long)
