Concur - hope it’s something better than that?para13cord wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 12:05 pmI like it a lot, I’ll buy one. I don’t love how they do the backlight on a lot of the analog gshocks though with that little led shining at an angle onto the dial.
Except they still use fax machines to move most documents
But but but, that's why the rest of the world loves Italy! Old World Rules!!Seppia wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 1:43 pmSo it has a Bluetooth smartphone link. Very useful when underwater.
Genius.
Casio making a gigantic, super expensive watch that is 10 years behind in terms of technology.
It’s sad to see how japan is becoming like Italy, a country mostly living in the past and incapable of innovating.
Cool. But who reads the South China Morning Post?)deepcdvr wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 5:44 pmExcept they still use fax machines to move most documents

Very interesting observations (I've never been to Japan, so it's great to hear from someone that's spent time there).Seppia wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 6:05 amI do knowaikiman44 wrote:I don’t know. I think if you go to Japan post covid you’d see plenty of state of the art tech.
I visit(ed) japan for work minimum five times per year and know the Honshu island pretty well.
Japan is surprisingly behind in terms of tech in many areas.
Some examples include spotty WiFi in the hotels, most people still using flip phones, most restaurants not taking credit cards, normal atms not working with non-Japanese cards (have to go into a 7/11) etc.
My distributor is the second largest coffee company in the country, with more than a thousand employees and offices all over the country: their email system doesn't allow attachments above 2mb, and they don't have email on their work phones.
I completely, unconditionally love japan.
I consider it the only country that can go toe to toe with Italy in terms of food and it is in my top three places I suggest to my Italian friends for a "once in a lifetime" vacation (probably number 2 after a tour of western USA).
Still, a supposedly hi tech dive watch that size and that price must double as a dive computer in 2020.
Yeah, but then you'd have Suunto dive computer. Friends don't Suunto friends.Seppia wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 11:32 amFor example, this costs about the same, it’s smaller and is a full dive computer.

I have dived with people wearing Suuntos and in the second half of the dive they are usually hanging above the rest of the divers, halfway to the surface, with their computer beeping at them.Seppia wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 10:16 amI don't dislike suunto, it works great for me.bedlam wrote:Yeah, but then you'd have Suunto dive computer. Sure the algorithm may be conservative but I don't care that much.
I find it knots a plus.
I'm kind of an odd duck, as I've only been doing recreational diving (around 200 dives) and have no particular desire to do anything more complex (ie beyond 50m, caves, etc) even if I am fairly comfortable in the water due to my decade playing high level waterpolo.
