I’m glad to see that recipe calls for boiling the bagels. A bagel that isn’t boiled is a roll with a hole in the middle.

I put that stuff in my eggs. So good.
Got some everything mix at Publix. Will have to try it on other things as well.

Here is the recipe I use, and I know many people who actually know something about baking swear by this one:

By the way, I'm pretty embarrassed at the way those bagels look. If you exert any effort, they can look a lot better. But the taste is awesome. I highly recommend the Trader Joe's everything bagel seasoning mix for these.
Thanks- I was about to ask you for the recipe. Looks so good.

It’s very risky and any of your bolts could kill it.

There is a very expensive bolt system that is patented that you can buy. I decided to just do a fort.

I started digging the 3ft by 3ft holes last August. 7 of them. They took forever- by hand and unmolested woods area.

But it’s really taking off. I just came in from finishing the rails and corner piece by rock wall.

Waiting on the slide to come in.
Building the house on top deck next.
And little things after that.
Swing set on the other side.
Zip line from where the slide is going going to be installed.
The diagonal board is temporary, that’s the slide side.

Sweet fort!

I hate to say this, but the tree I’m using I’m not very attached to. If the bolts supply the coup de grace, so be it. I’ll plant three new trees to replace it. Plus, with the kids being 10 and 13, if we get 5 years out of this tree house, I’ll be surprised (maybe I’ll use it as a tree stand if this meat shortage keeps up).

I was planning to do a platform style tree house using one tree and two posts. Digging in NH is basically scratch the surface until you hit a granite bolder and call it good (you should see my basement).

I remember the basement/crawlspace under my uncle's rural home in Atkinson, NH. It was very rocky and very uneven.

I take the little one to the library a lot- well I did anyway.

And I hate YouTube. I only go to fix on my 4Runner. But I may be looking soon on how to frame this clubhouse together because I didn’t get far today.

Lockdown Survival - what are you doing?

Post by Blaine » Thu May 14, 2020 11:46 am

Here, from the archives haha the tree fort I did with the help from the kids, father and friend. I can’t find the “addition” we did. Added a lower section, slide, climbing/swing rope and rope ladder and sand box when it was all send and done. No bolts were used to attach to tree, everything was built around it the oak. Even cut out a section of boarding to accommodate a large limb within the structure. A lot of fun. Sadly this beautiful oak, looking back at previous owners docs, roots were compromised when they installed the septic lines. The tree lived another 21 years after the fort was built. Have fun, a lot of great memories!

looks good ben! I use a lot of the old construction building books that I buy from the goodwill for ideas.

first recommendation is to throw that janky ass wooden ladder away. those damn things are not ridged enough to do shit, they will put your ass on the ground.

what is your next step for the fort?

I'm only wearing my fishing gaiter when & where a mask is required. It's too easy and if I need to rob the place while I'm there.....Image

Thanks Mr T.

Next step is a 6x6 clubhouse on top deck with a slanted (to the back) roof. Hoping to get it done this weekend- early next week.
Slide coming end of week.

And then I need to look up plans for a swing set. At least 3 swings. I want it on the opposite side of that pic, building off the corner post.

Oh and the ladder, lol.

Yeah I found that in the shed when we moved in a few years ago. It’s the only ladder I own but the neighbor down the road let me use his aluminum 12ft for the higher stuff.

Here’s my COVID Groundhog Day update. Still at the lake after two months. Our largest expenses have been my wife’s Amazon binges and boat fuel. (Oh yeah-and watch purchases!)Image

I’m sure you will. It’s gotta be hard on the kids but they’ll eventually adapt.
