G Shock Square (5600) metal "mods"
Hey guys,
I've received a couple of questions regarding my metal camo G Shock 5600 recently, so as requested, I want to put this out there in case someone is interest in doing one. I would not call this a mod as its just changing the case and band of the watch, a small screwdriver and springbar tool will do. Before starting, when buying a metal case for a square G Shock, check which models it will fit. Most 5600 models are the same, but the are some like most of the 5610 line and the GLX 5600 models (non solar or atomic G-lide) which are a bit different and the pusher will not line in with the metal cases.
Starting with the "most requested" one:
Let me start by saying that the real deal has a Ti case and bracelet and costs more than $1,300 (on the left):
https://www.g-central.com/gmw-b5000-titanium-edition/
But I'm just not going to spend that kind of money on a G Shock.
What I did was buying this case and bracelet on eBay (steel, not titanium):
And added one of my favorite 5600 modules from a GWX-5600. This module is atomic and solar, plus shows the tides, which I dig. You can get it in positive and negative (black background) display:
So, you only take out four screws that hold the case to the module, take out the band (with a regular springbar tool) and put the metal case and bracelet back. That's it.
I did the same with this one, but with the cheapest 5600 module you can get:
Cool watch for the weekend, again, not going to wear it a lot so I went with a cheap module. I've seen this one for sale on eBay as is, which is a nice deal actually.
Finally, I wanted another black/green "military" or "tacticool" looking watch to replace my Rangemaster (which wore too big for me), and really liked this one:
But this module is nothing to write home about, so again, I got a metal case and green band from eBay, and went with a brand new GW-B5600BC-1BJF which has bluetooth connectivity to the G Shock app on your phone (you can set alarms and other stuff from the phone, but you won't receive notification on the watch).
If I'm not mistaken, this is a similar module to the one that comes in the recently released full steel or Ti square G Shocks.
Hope this helps! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Ben told me that he found a Ti case for one of these watches, so eventually you might be able to go full Ti case and bracelet combo if you want.
If you like the square G Shocks and enjoy wasting small amounts of money on eBay, its pretty cool to buy modules and different cases and bands and make the watches your own

I think these mods are cool. Some people at WUS get worked up over these as blasphemous since the parts are aftermarket and do have logos. While I’ve had a number of G-Shocks over the years I haven’t been much of a fan until the metal squares happened. I’ll always have at least one metal square G.
Re: G Shock Square (5600) metal "mods"
Thanks for the info last week Joe- for some reason when I searched on the Ebay app I only found like 3 listings, and one camo bezel in Ti. But I searched on the PC today and found multiple listings.
What I got:
I opted for just the Ti camo bezel because I’m concerned about weight of the SS which is why I sold the all metal square last year.
Then I found listings for a titanium set :

Would these be considered replica Gshock parts?

This is the one I bought from. He was out of stock last week:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/DW5600-GW-M561 ... 2749.l2648
Photos on the listing doesn't show any G Shock branding, but when I got the parts, they have the G Shock branding on the case and the buckle.

They could certainly be. And the ones I got do say G Shock, even though the eBay listing pictures did not show that.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 2:17 pmWould these be considered replica Gshock parts?

I look at them the same way I see Seiko mod parts and aftermarket rubber straps (Isofranes, Tropics, Apple Watch straps, etc) and bracelets.

Some may be- but people buying g shock parts and modding them has been around for a long time.tattoo chef wrote:Would these be considered replica Gshock parts?

Casio has no problem selling genuine parts and you can pretty much buy anything - see pacparts.com.
So a real camo bezel from them is $$280.. bracelet is $630.... clasp is “call for price”.
So I don’t mind buying a Knock off for my daily wear. I don’t care if it says g shock- id rather it not but oh well.
The important thing with g Shock is the actual module. You can buy all the knock off armor you want but you can always look at the caseback and function and know what watch it is.

Well, the GMW-B5000 are all metal models with Bluetooth integration:
https://world.g-shock.com/asia-mea/en/p ... gmw-b5000/
The camo model (which is in titanium, not steel) is B5000TCM1 (T=titanium, CM=camo).

Yeah. I have the black version and want to modify it to the Camo. Just to change it up because I prefer the camo.Joeprez wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 5:07 amWell, the GMW-B5000 are all metal models with Bluetooth integration:

It appears that the 5600 cases may work, but I am not sure. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Watch-Strap-Ca ... 0005.m1851andrema wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 7:04 amYeah. You may just have to buy the actual Casio piece if you’re trying to change your all metal version...

If I kept my all metal, I would totally do this. And put it on rubber Strap. That way it won’t feel like an anchor on my wrist.

Re: G Shock Square (5600) metal "mods"
Now I understand. Do you know the module number on the GMW-B5000. I have a GW-B5600 (module 3461, also bluetooth capabilities) that I was able to fit in a metal case from eBay. If its the same module, it should fit in the steel camo metal case that I got from eBay.andrema wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 7:04 amYeah. I have the black version and want to modify it to the Camo. Re: G Shock Square (5600) metal "mods"
I don’t think these parts will fit the newer all metal GS.
When I had the all metal and GW 5000, I took the bezels off and took pics. Completely different.

My GW-5000 on the aftermarket Ti camo bezel. I love it. More of a frog-skin camo pattern.
Waiting on jay and kay to make adapters to fit this case so I can put it on NATO.
