How come Europe got more testing getting done and they have less people to test than the USA President Truman once said the buck stops here a lot of truth there. Testing the key in stopping this from spreading.

NYC was the last place that I heard of to close their school system. After Michigan. After Ohio. After tiny ass Ithaca NY. Yeah, Trump was the problem.

It's fine not to like the guy, but don't beclown yourself over it.
State and local governments might claim they were waiting for guidance from the fed. gov't. In other words, In loco parentis.
That seems to be de blasio's argument, though it's undermined by the fact that he's a feckless dipshit on every front. Even ultra scumbag Gavin "I fucked my buddies wife while on the clock" Newsom managed to do a seemingly decent job.

That’s the fundamental issue between the two parties, state sovereignty and big government.

However, they never made those claims. Diblasio refused to close the schools and Cuomo refused to have people shelter in place. Neither blamed Trump until everything hit the fan.

The irony is that Cuomo may end up being the Dem with the best chance of winning in November.

Not sure what testing will do. There isn’t much to do to treat this.

You answered you own question, smaller countries with smaller populations, that are more dependent on the government to take care of them.

A three day old dog turd left in the sun has a better chance of winning than anyone currently running for the Democrat nomination. Cuomo would be a million times more competitive than either of those geriatrics.

Biden is a shell of his former self. He’s had at least two aneurysms and is showing some cognitive issues.
He’s the great hope for the democrats right now.

Here's a maybe not-so-far-fetched conspiracy theory. Biden names Hillary as his running mate. If/when he's elected, he has to step down for health reasons. :stir:

Trump might lose, but it’s not going to be because Biden is desirable in any way.

From the beginning of the month but wanted to find a link that looks less political but we are at the bottom of the list in testing in the beginning but slowly moving up. New York would of maybe had faster testing the out come mite be different were they mite of got a handle on it the world health organization did offer us testing kits the US turned them down there's worked. And our first kits made in the USA since a new test were defective in the beginning so slowed down finding who had this shit just glad the US got the hiccups out of the testing kits just not enough testing kits to go around. Like I said the buck stops here and that's the man in charge. Testing will let you know who has it and you can stop the spread so another don't get it has a lot to do with it. Was looking at Bahrain there smaller than California and they tested about as many people as the USA sad we can do better than that you would think.

Trump is in a terrible spot right now. The only way to contain this shit is to basically declare martial law and shut the country down for 2-3 wks. We are a privileged group (regardless of party swing) and I don't think it'd go over well...too many nut jobs (on both sides) here and it would be devastating to the economy.

The alternative is to re-open the country for business, let a fair chunk of elderly and immunocomprimised die off and allow the economy to move on. That option has the risk of going terribly, but so does lackadaisical "social distancing" restrictions that go on and on and on at the expense of tens of thousands of restaurants, bars, and countless other businesses that simply cannot self-sustain for weeks or months without income coming in.

As for the Dem presidential candidates - shame on the party for once again putting up garbage candidates for the presidential bid. Biden is a bumbling idiot with a history of failing to gain traction with US voters and Sanders is well..Sanders, a fringy Washington outsider that couldn't get shit done even if he was elected. It'd be nice if political parties could accept that voters don't need (or necessarily want) a candidate that will vote along party lines on every issue and can actually think for themselves. Lately, that seems like too much to ask of any politician.

A three day old dog turd left in the sun has a better chance of winning than anyone currently running for the Democrat nomination. Cuomo would be a million times more competitive than either of those geriatrics.
You're referring to either Beavis or Butthead I see. Tulsi would have been a better choice imo.
Tulsi would have been an awesome choice for them. Too bad she didn’t properly kiss Clinton’s ass.
That's why I like her. Clinton will always be a corrupt cunt.

That’s the fundamental issue between the two parties, state sovereignty and big government.

Biden is a shell of his former self. He’s had at least two aneurysms and is showing some cognitive issues.
He’s the great hope for the democrats right now.
It’s really crazy. At least Mayor Pete could put together a coherent thought.

Trump might lose, but it’s not going to be because Biden is desirable in any way.

What ever happened to personal responsibility?
I think personal responsibility died years ago. Most are only concerned with themselves and the small bubble they surround themselves with..not the community as a whole.

I went to buy a bag of dog food yesterday. The cashier asked why I wasn't buying more and cited another customer who had purchased 10, 50# bags of dog food for a 30# Australian Shepard in the past 2 days. When I told her I didn't need a stock-pile of dog food and I wanted to leave some for others she looked at me like I was crazy.

I agree with you as to Trump’s choices at this point (although I find the Donald hard to stomach most days, the Dems would have had my vote except, well, they screwed it up again)

Only issue with opening business back up is that best case scenario - and that’s best case assuming curve has been bent enough to handle the ICU floods in the big cities - is that a million will die... Best case of .5% death rate w/ 50% infected, whether they know it or not

I don't think another week of "social distancing" is enough. We hit 100 fatalities today in the US and my guess is we'll see similar mortality #'s to Italy by the end of the week. The lack of vents, masks and gowns is enough to allow this thing to burn on for a while.

The big losers of this will be the small business owners and low to middle class workers. I am really concerned with some of my patients that are full time servers and bartenders. The wealthy will eventually see their portfolios rebound and the corporations will likely get bailed out. Hourly employees are going to get screwed. I've already seen "space available" signs popping up in my community and most restrictions started here about a week ago.

I agree that a week won’t cut it - certainly not in the biggest cities, but that’s Trump’s MO.

He says “we’re open in a week” and people lose their minds, then when he backs off and adds a couple of weeks or a month, people give him a pass - it’s the Queens real estate magnate BS trick to low ball hard on your first offer...

//

If we can bend the curve for a few more weeks, we may come through this ok in the big cities, maybe not? The rest of the country will be just fine, though, looking at the trends so far.

Oh and let’s be clear, NYC went from testing 1000 a day to 16000 a day, so the numbers WILL skyrocket - it’s the death rate we’re worried about, which will be closer to .6 once we really start testing. At that point, it’s a mathematical equation as to opening the country or keeping it closed.

I generally don’t know what I’m talking about so...

I don't think anyone really knows what they are talking about.

Looking at John Hopkins' chart, we could see 15k new cases tomorrow. I'll be surprised if we aren't seeing daily death counts of 500 by the end of the week. Shit's about to hit home to a lot of people...especially those in high density areas.

So I don’t understand why folks bitch about enforcing the “no politics” rule when certain “sides” are talking and then proceed to carry on themselves.

Wtf guys?

I know we’ve since moved on from the topic and back to the disease spread itself, but do I really need to do a toddler style count down to timeout?

I tend not to agree with most of you all on politics, but you wouldn’t know it, and that’s the point. This is a terrible medium for that type of discussion. No more politics!
