Lockdown Survival - what are you doing?

We’ve almost caught up on laundry after a week plus of staying home. I’ve finished a few long over due projects and I’m working on setting up the garden.
Luckily, I stocked up when I hit Tree House a few weeks back, so that helps.

I’m thinking this will be longer than 2 weeks....


I just told my wife how if it was a little warmer out we wouldn’t even know the difference. My kids hate going places and always want to come home and play. The only difference is increased anxiety with my work.

Anyway, is 32° right now, was 65° 2 days ago. Just wish it would stay warm.

I'd like to welcome the rest of the state of California to the shelter-at-home mandate. Been at it since Sunday. It's honestly not all that bad. Been super busy with work (I've been remote for the last two years now), but I've been feeding the birds and learning a new realm of photography to keep things fresh.



Also making sure I sneak out for a run or a ride on the daily – under the current mandate, both are allowed long as you keep it solo. Looking forward to this all being over, but the world is gonna be a very different place on the other side of this tunnel, that's for sure.

It is a great pic. I love hummingbirds. Have some around here and wish I’d see them more often.

Here’s a pilated woodpecker from my bedroom window last year. He was as big as a chicken! Wish I could get some better pics of him. He was tearing that bark off like a beast, swinging his head like an axe.

Starting to go a bit stir crazy, been hanging at CVS...….

I’m going crazy at home too. I’m about to buy one of those DIY spray foam insulation kits and insulate my garage. I can’t handle not doing something.

That’s the way to do it, I have a list of a bunch of home projects and hobby related stuff I need/want to do (from Legos to changing guitar strings, etc.)

That's a good idea- I just added insulation to the attic and weather stripping to the front door. Maybe some interior painting next...

Its funny how things are changing. We are motivated to get more house stuff done. Just sorted whole garage and loaded car up with stuff for our local charity shop, they will need help now so the vulnerable still get help.
Just been for a 16 mile bike ride and never knew we had such lovely cycle ways through the countryside.
Stocked up on paints and other bits in case stores close.
Food has not been a problem so far, I know if I need to I can get a good stash and drive it to my dad if i need to.

I love watching his videos. He's very meticulous.

The nice thing about OPT's No-Rinse wash is you can wash your car in the garage. If it's super dirty, I'd blast it with high pressure water at the DIY car wash before washing with Optimum No-Rinse. Other than that, it works exactly as described.

Larry is also a super nice guy. I've talked to him around the NY car scene and emailed back and forth with him a bit. His stuff is premium priced, but I can afford it and I'd be happy to support what he's trying to do - especially now.

I'd definitely blast off salt and heavy soil with a pressure washer before doing a rinseless wash.

I don't hand wash my car in the winter (no garage), so it's not an issue for me.

same here. i will stick with hand washing and clay bar. then a rub down of 1Z Einszett Paint Polish with a coat of Collinite Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax No. 476. finding what works for each person is tough. just like watches.

I'm thinking that I'll install a hot/cold hose bib in my garage and do a PW/foam cannon wash weekly, combined with a bunch of microfiber towels in a warm water bucket with soap. I think I could do it without freezing my ass off too much.

This. Yes, thankfully don’t get too much road salt around here. But yes, if very heavy soil, I’ll do a quick rinse with hose (garden hose but not a pressure washer; I’d be worried to use one of those on a vehicle).
