Stand up desk for schools is a great idea.Through this students can gain the health benefits of studying while standing.

Have them at work and I love them. Great idea for schools. Get kids off their asses.

Most of the people in my office are too far gone to stand up more than a few minutes at a time.

I got an Apple watch a few months ago and wear it to work occasionally. It was eye opening to see how little I move and how few calories I burn during an average day. There is one spike when I workout on my lunch break - the rest is a flat line. Sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day can't be good for you.

My kids have outdoor recess and PE classes as well, but I hear what Mike is saying.

My son, while by no means a star athlete, loves playing outside - soccer, basketball, baseball, football - really any sport he can gather enough neighborhood kids to come out to play with.

The hard part for him is getting the neighborhood kids off their video games.

I’m visiting my friends in HI this week and their 13 YO son is the same way. He’s in HI, living on a base that offers sailing, golf, scuba, and who knows how many other lessons and activities and the kid would rather play video games. It boggles my mind. I tell my buddy I’d understand the video game thing if they were stationed in Minot, ND, but Oahu?

Recess and PE classes are fine, but IMO kids need to run around outside to build the basics of cardio and muscle strength. Too many kids simple don’t do that anymore and their physical fitness suffers.
