Well another incoming
Well I know Naval navigation watches are not every bodies cup of tea. My first big ticket naval navigation time piece was a Hamilton model 22 this one below. Also in the photo a Hamilton naval comparing watch.
Then the big Brother the Hamilton Model 21
Only one missing was the Hamilton Model 22 deck watch / pocket watch version same movement as the model 22 in gimble box above. Well I just bought this one off Ebay from the same seller I got the big brother model 21
Now I got a complete set the Two versions of the model 22 and the big brother the model 21 and the comparing watch. One collector of these told me in WW2 they had 2-6 chronometers on ships less on smaller ships more on larger ships one on the bridge and the rest in different locations of the ship to protect them if the bridge gets a direct hit and it destroys the chronometer they have another to take it's place they were that important for navigation.

With out these WW2 mite of ended different. Learned some thing Hamilton made 10,902 model 21 ships chronometer by wars end no us ship went with out one. On the outer wooden box looks like it's missing the leather strap I now a guy who refurbish these wooden boxes and sells parts to them I will have to contact him about a leather strap.

Well all complete got every issued US Naval navigation watch of WW2 received it today. Cheaper than some stuff you buy for the wrist with cool naval history. Just think what type of craft this could of been since the smaller type model 22 pocket watch in double wooden boxes were issued to PT boats and submarines I can think of that WW2 movie run silent run deep or those two PT boat movies PT 109 or they were expendable any buddy remember those older movies. Took me years to get all four all ways saw some thing else first and put it off. But since all the cool vintage wristwatches are way out of my price range these days was a good time to finish getting this set complete.

Well it's been running since I got it on Monday and has only gained one second not bad for two and a halve days to gain only one second 1+ shows how good American watchmaking once was.
