Taking a step back

Post by stonehead887 » Tue Oct 15, 2019 11:45 am

Hi guys,

Thought i would put up this post, not so much as I am a major contributor but I really enjoy this forum, the no bullshit approach and general all round fun of 'normal' people who don't get their fanny packs in a twist like some do over on the other forum.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I will be taking a bit of a step back from this, and all forums and even IG for now. I just feel saturated with meaningless stuff, I don't mean you guys but internet stuff. I find myself idly looking at things with no buzz any more. I am not selling any watches but I feel like I need to reconnect with myself. I have had a lot of personal crap this year with the most difficult time of my life I have been carrying for 16 years and its time to let go. My wife and I need to also reconnect. Want to spend more time with my dad, I have shared some great times already here and don't want to miss a moment.

I am sure I will 'dive'in from time to time and will miss stupid shit and birthdays the most, and Atomic Tom for bringing us boundless watch enthusiasm even on crap watches!

I wish you all DWCers the very best of health for now, stay safe, especially those serving and for fucks sake, stay normal. Hope to catch up with y'all maybe later next year.

Jeremy

(Ok, what's an acceptable cooling off time to check your responses?)

Best of luck to you, I’ve definitely thought of doing something similar. I spend way to much time on my iPad when I’m not working and it’s busy work usually consisting of watches and my buying and selling is small potatoes for what I could be doing now. Seems like I can’t sit the device down even when I’m not buying. That and I’ve resorted to gold which says something. Anyway I’m sure we’ll still be here when you make your next visit!

Wish you the best Jeremy, I think is always a good idea to take a breather from time to time. This is fun for all of us, but there is more important stuff out there to take our time. And believe me I understand, I've been working hard on decreasing the time I spent on IG (it would probably help if I stop following a couple of intagram "models" accounts  ).

Take care bro, and do comeback to say hi from time to time.

Best of luck Jeremy. While I don’t think I could quit this place, I did disconnect from social media a few months back and it’s a wonderful thing. I hope you find similar results.

Sounds like a good plan. Good on you for knowing it's time to catch your breath. Too many people don't and just get bitter.

Hope you enjoy the breather from all the online stuff!

That's a well thought-out, personal note, Jeremy.

Thanks for taking the time to write the post and congrats on a good decision for you and yours.

It’s easy to neglect the important things with all the internet noise around. As Peter said, all things in moderation. Best of luck and looking forward to hearing from you.

Smart man. Other than a few watch forums I don't exist anywhere on social media and find I'm much better off because of it.

I find that there are more individuals I like on the Internet than in "real life." Besides, in cyberspace, it's easier to choose who you associate with. As an HOA board member, I sometimes think I'm living in Florida.

It’s best to put first things first. Fill your bucket with the important things-the rest can wait.

You are a smart man for realizing and doing something about it.

Good luck.

Always good to keep yourself in check. I dumped IG this year and took 6 months off FB a while back. If it’s fun, then you’re managing well, but when it feels like another “to do” list time, time for a break. Hope it works well for you.

That’s me, DWC is it. My former work “discouraged” FB, and I have no interest in other social media. Family has become my number one priority over the past few years, so I understand your taking time off. Put it to good use and enjoy.

I've wanted to end the horse, hunting, saxophone, and watch forums. It consumes too much time. Good Luck to you!

Jeremy, wow, didn't see this coming at all, and am really stunned to
hear all of this. It's a super sad day for myself, and everyone here at
DWC that's for sure. Because as I have said many times, DWC is really
like a big family. So if someone leaves, or as sometimes happens just
disappears, it's very upsetting, and depressing.

Even if often times we are just a screen name, honestly feel like we
get a real feel for who people are, and it's just the best talking with
them, or you in this case. ..Can just tell you are a good person Jeremy,
or really great person actually.

However, there is no doubt, what is most important in life is your
actual family, and you yourself sir. So this is actually extremely
cool, and positive news at the end of the day. Am certain that
your dad, and wife, and all of the people in your life will be just
ecstatic to spend more time with you.

It's beyond cool to hear my friend, and although I am very sad I won't
see you around as often, and be able to talk with you. I'm so happy
you are making this decision for both yourself, and your family.

All the best to you Jeremy, and great job escaping the Matrix !

Still will be hoping to see you drop by, and dive in like you said.
So won't say goodbye sir.
