I am sure Jacob will pop in and tell you how much they are off, down to the micron.

Need an angle shot. As old as that watch is I would expect it to have been polished once or twice.

Polished. Not overpolished, but polished for sure.
Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?
Seller did mention a polish so not like he’s withholding that info. Just looking to see if this was a bad polish job. Although, sure, unpolished would be ideal

Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?
I'm busy. Classes start tomorrow.
That doesn't look "over" polished to me. It does look really poorly polished. The pics are shit though. If my eyes are to be believed, most/all of the nice sunburst on the bezel has been removed. Is it dirt cheap? If not, I'd pass.
On edit - the lug tip at 10 o'clock has a funky angle. Like they chipped it slightly and tried to reshape to mask it.

I’m with Jacob.
WTH are with the photos? I can take better shots with my Nest doorbell...holy hell. If you are selling a relatively expensive watch, give the buyer quality photos.

The pathetic blurry/non detailed photos are becoming more common. It's not a coincidence. Yesterday, It was part of another DWC sales post. Who are they trying to jack off?? My $29.00 Walmart flip phone takes clear pictures, so your Iphone is more than adequate.

Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?
My first thought also. The iPhone 3 that I had 10 years ago took better photos. What the hell is wrong with people.
Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?
Now that I can see the pics on my desktop instead of my phone, I agree with the consensus regarding the polishing and the pictures. I love the Explorer II, but even a pristine one needs to be photographed correctly or it looks like crap.
You'd probably do fine with this one assuming the price is right, but there are better examples out there.

So uhhhh... genuinely curious here. What's the problem with polishing? Are you not supposed to polish a Rolex if it gets scratched? Does a polish make it less valuable?
Re: Rolex: Over polished lugs?
Rolex's don't scratch, they "Patina" and anything you do to remove the magical factory metal from the watch will make you forever an outcast in the Rolex circles and may detract from the price given to your great-great grandchildren at a Sothebys auction.... when mechanical watches have yet another renaissance after Kim Jong-Un the 4th EMP bomps the U.S. and incapacitates all iPhone XXX's.

A lot of the Rolex guys are ridiculously obsessed with polishing and "originality" (along all the other stuff they're obsessed with). Personally, as long as the watch is polished well, I don't see the problem. Even one that's polished less than well will most likely look fine on your wrist.

Agreed. It has gotten ridiculous to say the least. One guy on reddit got blasted for having his 5 year Rolex refinished at RSC. He thought no one would buy it with all the scratches.JBZ wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:43 amExactly.dnslater wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:24 amRolex's don't scratch, they "Patina" and anything you do to remove the magical factory metal from the watch will make you forever an outcast in the Rolex circles and may detract from the price given to your great-great grandchildren at a Sothebys auction.... when mechanical watches have yet another renaissance after Kim Jong-Un the 4th EMP bomps the U.S. and incapacitates all iPhone XXX's.
