Re: Rush/Geddy Lee WIS
In 1983, I saw Rush at The Summit. in 1984, I saw them at the Astrodome with Ozzy and 38 Special.
I was stone out of my mind and sang all the lyrics that never made a bit of sense. That was a great article that awoke some great memories.

Great read. I've always felt I should like Rush more than I actually do, but I have tremendous respect for them as a band, and Geddy Lee has always struck me as a cool dude.

This is true. Of course, I have a feeling Geddy Lee has a bit more room for error.four20 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 6:33 am“YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AS A COLLECTOR; YOU HAVE TO BUY SOME OF THE WRONG WATCHES TO KNOW WHAT’S THE RIGHT WATCH FOR YOU.”

Cool article - he seems to be a true aficionado. I've always liked Rush.

Re: Rush/Geddy Lee WIS
Seems like a pretty low key dude. Contrast that with Meyer who seems like a total shit head.
Re: Rush/Geddy Lee WIS
Now that really is cool ! Beyond cool actually. ..Thank you sir !!!

Agree he really seems the aficionado. He’s narrowed his collecting to specific categories.
Re: Rush/Geddy Lee WIS
Probably one of my favorite bands. I got into them when I was just a kid, via MTV videos for the Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows albums. As I got older, I explored their back catalog. What a band. For some reason, I'm not the least bit surprised that Getty is into watches.
The drummer, Neil Peart, is into bicycles and motorcycles. He wrote a book, Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road, about his motorcycle journey throughout North and Central America. It's a quick and enjoyable read.

I love the comment about a date window on a Sub.
I didn’t realize Peart gave up drumming.

Yeah. He’s stated he can’t physically do it anymore. It’s a shame.gamecock111 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 5:57 amI love the comment about a date window on a Sub.

Wow. Blast from the past. Saw Rush a few times in the late '70's and early '80's. Always a great band, especially live. Cool that Lee is so into watches.

I’ve never seen you wear a watch on-stage.
Lee: Nope, I think it feels weird and looks weird up there. It’s about as useful as a date window on a Submariner, and it always struck me as a silly thing.
That jumped out at me, as well.
I admit to being a Rush fan.
Anyone remember the interview with Geddy talking about his parents and the Nazi concentration camps? That was some seriously compelling shit.

I loved the Geddy Lee episode of The Big Interview w/ Dan Rather (but I can’t stand Rather lol). Geddy seems like a very humble, decent guy. That makes me like the music that much more.

Re: Rush/Geddy Lee WIS
I just read the article. There's an honesty to his collection. I'm sure it's worth $$$ but every one of the watches pictured looked nice but far from perfect. His 1016 looks like one I'd buy if I decided to hunt one down. You can tell that dealers aren't passing him "perfect" frankenwatches like some other, much younger, musician collector.

Been a big Rush fan for 35 years. Amazing band and three of the best players at their instrument to ever play. Neil Peart is the greatest drummer of all time, in my book.
Geddy is a super cool guy. This article just broadens that statement. He’s a huge baseball fan as well and can be seen at many Bluejays games behind home plate.
Lifeson is a real sweetheart of a guy and funny as hell.
It’s a shame what Peart has endured in his life, both emotionally with his losses and physically. A tremendous mind though and very articulate. His book is indeed a good read. A private guy though, he’d often not be seen in public at band events with media, fans etc. Gedfy and Alex always took the brunt for those.

Huge fan of Rush but came to them later in life. I always had something for really good 3 piece bands - The Police and Rush are my two favorite bands. Their movie, Beyond the Lighted Stage, is excellent. It’s a story about a band but also about best friends who’ve known each other since their teens.
I didn’t know Geddy was into watches as well as baseball - even cooler now. His collection is interesting and personal - he doesn’t collect for anyone else’s approval.
Reminds me of how much I still want a Siffert. That and a Red Sub - If I could do it all over again going back in time, those two watches would be it for me.
