Huge Seikos
I’m probably answering my own question here, but does Seiko make a single diver other than the SKX007 that wears the same size as the NAFT or smaller or should I be looking at other brands? I don’t love the changes to the new Tuna so that was short lived. It seems the newer SBDC releases are a bit on the large side too. It seems going with any other brand I’m looking at homages which I don’t want or a boatload of money. The only non divers that appeal to me at this point are GS, some of the Presages, the bezeless Black Bays, and the Rolex Explorer which isn’t happening anytime soon.

Vintage? I've had a couple older Seiko Divers that were/are 39/40mm

Re: Huge Seikos
The SPB077 And SPB079 wear smaller than their specs would suggest. They wear smaller than the turtles imo. I'd also give a sumo a try if you haven't. The case curves in such a way that it wears really well. I find both more comfortable to wear than turtles or even the skx due to the curvature of their respective cases.
Re: Huge Seikos
I’ve had the Sumo a few times. Usually end up selling due to the size. The ends of the lugs while nicely curved set right at the ends of my wrist. Still like it though.Ruggs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:24 amThe SPB077 And SPB079 wear smaller than their specs would suggest. They wear smaller than the turtles imo. I might just stick with the NAFT as my diver. Thought about the Shogun too but I don’t love the look of the bracelet. Other than the Sumo and Shogun the SBDC/SRPs haven’t really appealed to me. I have been thinking about another Marinemaster too.

Shogun is a great choice. I never used the bracelet. What I didn’t like about the Shogun was the bezel insert.Torrid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:41 amI’ve had the Sumo a few times. I tend to use mostly straps but the bracelet occasionally. What didn’t you like about the bezel insert?HapaHapa wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:54 amShogun is a great choice. I never used the bracelet. Maybe that’s the one and it already has sapphire so that’s a plus.Seppia wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:24 amGet this one (pics on a 6.75 wrist)
I don’t know the model number with seiko new idiotic way of using two different model numbers for the same watches, but it’s what they call the MM200.
Specs say 44mm but it wears a small 42.
I know “it wears smaller than the specs suggest” is the typical phrase you hear from WUS noobs that ty to justify their latest gigantic clown seiko, but this one REALLY wears smaller.
Re: Huge Seikos
Get one of these, put MM300 hands on it, and I think you've got a watch that in some ways is actually nicer than an MM300, and certainly will wear much smaller.Seppia wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:24 amGet this one (pics on a 6.75 wrist)

The new mini Turdles are also very nice.

I’m kind of surprised. All of the pictures of the MM300 next to the 6R15 model make the MM300 look like the smaller watch. I do remember the MM300 being a thick watch but otherwise good dimensions.
Maybe I’m just coming up with excuses to talk myself out of Seiko. I feel like they got the NAFT right at it’s price point.

I didn’t like the tone or look of the metal. Is it aluminum? I guess that’s just another strange peeve of mine to go with custom fit solid end-links. .Torrid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:21 amI tend to use mostly straps but the bracelet occasionally. Re: Huge Seikos
If I had to choose right now I’m between the Shogun and the new SBDC063. The hands are a bit too short on the Shogun and after having the newer model Tuna I really don’t care for the hands on the 063.
Slightly leaning Shogun but even then I’d do the sapphire right away.
I honestly pictured all these watches wearing much larger.
I like what the mini Turtle should be, but it’s bubbly if that makes sense. I like the NAFT for how it wears, but I’ve always preferred Seiko’s edgier case designs.

Re: Huge Seikos
If you end up with a Shogun get the Crafter Blue fitted rubber. Perfect combo imo and very comfortable. Personally I like the bracelet, but the watch works so well on Natos and canvas you wouldn't miss it.
Re: Huge Seikos
I might consider that strap too. I have a feeling I’ll like the bracelet anyway and use it a lot. If I do pick it up I’ll order from Gnomon if I’m going new. They’ll even install sapphire before shipping for $75.
Since you have both which do you prefer between the Shogun and Sumo?

Shogun for sure. I still have an orange Sumo, but the Shogun would stay if I had to sell one over the other.Torrid wrote:I might consider that strap too. Re: Huge Seikos
The more I look at the SBDC063 the more I appreciate the fact that Seiko got the hand length right. It always stands out to me when this isn’t right. Definitely looks like it would be perfect on NATOs too.

Like Chris mention the small turtle is a great option. It is better finished than the regular Turtles also.

Re: Huge Seikos
I’m starting to lean towards the 200. Luckily I have a pile of Toxics for whatever lug size I would end up with. The 22s are getting plenty of use on the NAFT. I can make a bracelet look like hell in a week flat with my job so I rarely use them. I’d hate to see how much dirt gets between the links and NATOs are easy to wash in the sink.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 7:56 pmThe 200mm wears smaller than the 300mmTorrid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 12:27 pmI’m kind of surprised. I have had a hard time taking the SBDC061 off after receiving it a few weeks ago. Just a great design and wears well.
Re: Huge Seikos
Anyone see the MM200 on an ISOfrane before? I’ve looked and can’t find a single picture.

No pics but I tried it. The Iso is to thick. The Scurfa worked better.
