This kid is now a ToxicNATO fan

Post by Torrid » Sun Jun 09, 2019 2:25 pm

Finally figured out what was wrong with my daughter’s Seiko SNK807 and I’m not 100% sure she was the factor in breaking it, so we’ve decided to give her another chance with a decent watch. Basically what happened was that one of the SNK’s dial feet fell off and then wedged the rotor stuck when it got stuck between the weight and the movement. When I took the case back off and removed the rotor today after I got curious to see what happened, the dial foot pin fell through the escapement into the movement and now I can’t get it out so given the cost of this watch it has landed into the lost cause category.

Anyway, this Rotary was my wife’s watch, bought back in 2012 as a birthday gift. She hasn’t worn it really in the last few years and didn’t care to wear anything but smart watches and has the new Samsung Galaxy active. It was just sitting in a drawer so I dropped in a new battery and gave my 9 year old the option of either the ceramic bracelet, a pink and white leather band that my wife used, one of my various black leather bands, or her choice of any of my 20mm NATOs. She chose the black/grey ToxicNATO and has even learned to properly put on and remove NATO straps including how to double back the extra tail. The best part is she loves the rotating bezel so much that I hear her constantly turning it. The bezel has nice solid clicks and is definitely up there with my Seikos surprisingly and has a 120 click spring. She loves listening to the clicks. Here’s a wrist shot. It is 40mm but she has a very small wrist.

Looks great! I vaguely remember you talking about this...

I’ve been known to pass some toxics along to my friend’s son, who considers me an uncle, whenever I go through my nato evolutions. He’s a total watch hound

Just got a new X-33 Skywalker so it seems like more Toxics will be in order soon. Lucky for him.

Another female WIS in the making. I was 9 when I first became interested in watches. Good for her, and Way to go, Dad!

That’s awesome! Looks great on her. She might just get bitten by the watch bug.

She’s already asking for crazy colors. I think I’ll get her a couple of shiznits soon since I don’t have any in 20mm.

Yep, I’m screwed. She already asked if she could have my NAFT and saw an ad on my iPad for the solar Tuna and wants one of those because she likes my 300m model. I may eventually buy her the solar.

Love the story. My 11 year old likes to wear my wife’s SKX013 on a green Toxic.
