Timex's American Documents watches

Post by AtomicTom » Tue Apr 16, 2019 11:20 am

Not sure if everyone caught this neat Timex news.

They look to be launching something called the American Documents
collection. Where each of the watches is made by "American craftsman
with American materials and a high-quality Swiss movement." With all
of the parts except for the movement being made, or sourced in the US.

Some of the specifications include a 41mm stainless steel, or gunmetal
brushed, and polished case, 30m WR, Gorilla glass crystal, double layer
dials in black, white, black, and blue with sleek hands, and markers,
brass case-back, and crown coin, nice leather straps, and Swiss made
Ronda caliber 6004 movement. All assembled in Middlebury Connecticut
guys.

Nice to see a watch made in the US, and according to the article it could be just the beginning. Maybe a US made movement in the future? I'd like to see a mechanical movement, and I don't need a dress watch, but it's a very interesting development. Thanks Tom.

Looks ok, but the text at the top is horrible.

Same. Don’t like the other text but it looks ok.

I think they look great, dial has a bit of a JLC feel to it. Agreed on the text, they should proudly put Made in America but keep Swiss part in much smaller text elsewhere on the dial

Nice to have Timex return to its U.S. made roots. Design is somewhat Weiss like.

I don't like dress watches but I might buy one for a gift depending on price to support American made products so they can eventually make one I like.

Exciting stuff right guys?! ..And like Jeff pointed out, it's just the beginning !
So not only will we be seeing more models evidently. But maybe they will be
actually adding more styles. Along with modifying dial designs, and even the
way the text is done.

Should be a lot of fun to watch honestly. ..By the way, thank YOU guys ! :)

And these still don't have a screwed caseback. Being more upscale than their regular pedestrian Timex, you'd think they would. Makes changing batteries that much more difficult. That's one thing I hate about Timex watches.
