Forum downtime - Tuesday, March 5th, 8 PM PT

Post by matt.wu » Tue Mar 05, 2019 8:20 am

Andrew’s gonna do some debugging that requires we take the forum offline for a bit. The plan is 8 PM tonight and should last about an hour or so.

Not a ton of traffic at that time, so it should be minimal impact to the bulk of folks.

Thx

We should have a special "Welcome Back" thread in the Rumble Room (similar to a Happy Birthday thread).

I like this, everyone start the heavy drinking at 8 and make sure to log in to DWC afterwards.

Is Andrew taking requests? Night mode, format everyone’s bloated signatures, a timeline button!(if possible)

I'm in, it's carnival here so I've been drinking heavily since last Thursday!

What is timeline?

And I hide all signatures, so that problem is easy to solve.

How can I hide sigs? Or is that admin thing?

Timeline was an option on tt to see posts in order of latest reply.

I guess active topics is similar? Not sure if the same. But night mode would be great also cap.

Unread posts is the same as timeline as far as I can tell. That’s all I use now.

Problem I see with unread posts is this thread will no longer be visible if I refresh. I’d only see shit I skip on purpose.

Hiding sigs is in your User Control Panel.

The “timeline” you want is called “New Posts” in the dropdown menu on the forum.

if there is an "easy" way to pin the banner(s) that contain that dropdown menu so that it remains visible as one scrolls down, so that one doesn't have to scroll all the way back up to the top to click the "new posts" link from the bottom of the page...or replicate it at the bottom of the page...that'd be useful.

and since you seem to be taking suggestions, and i'm wishlisting, can you make any URL to an external site open in a new tab rather than taking us away from the safe(?) confines of the deedub?

see, i've already started preparing for the site coming back online later

Yeah, so everyone can now stop filling up the DWC hard drives with their butt pic attachments ;)

The post performance issue should be finally resolved.

Holy smokes! Nice work Sir!

Say the word and I’ll get you a room at a Days Inn and let you have Ben for a weekend. He will dress in whatever you like, but he prefers those acrylic stripper heels.

You’ve earned the reward.

Neither. The issue was with the server environment.
