Anyone know what the MSRP of a 6105 was back in the day? I wonder what it would be today, adjusted for inflation.
A quick search showed $175 in 1969 if that was accurate. The calculator I found said that would be just over $1200 today.
A rolex submariner in 1957 was $150

So, not in SKX007 territory, but not "high end", either.

Exactly. For around MM300 territory or less I'd be very tempted. For what this will likely come out for I'll just buy another MM300 and call it even. I like the 6105 and the so called Turtle, but for a pricier but somewhat reasonable diver the MM300 is going to win.

Since the 62mas reissue used the same movement and was mid-$3k range, I expect this one to land in the $3500-4000 ballpark.

I had the Timefactors Precista copy a while back and really liked how it felt on the wrist, but it used normal 20mm lug width.

it looks like they are using that same shit crown lock design. that is a disappointment. i am sure this will be like the 62mas re-edition and cost over 3k
Maybe they’ll make a more affordable 6R version like the other new models more in line with the cost most of us would prefer to pay for a Seiko.

Yes. They will decrease the price by 70%, while making it 20% less good looking and 30% larger. :puke:
I often wonder if the NAFT was a successful mistake for this reason. Why didn’t they make a $3k 6309 instead?

I’ll never understand seiko... I get the expensive 62mas reissue but they could have made a fortune with this watch using the 6 series movement.

At most, they should've made it as just a 6R model like the SRP Turtle and Samurai reissues were just released as 4R models.

From what I've seen, everything that made that watch great stems, in one way or another, from the fact that it was affordable to begin with and I wish they kept to that.

That's the impression I got, too. It was a more affordable alternative to the Rolex Submariner. The 6105 was a blue-collar dive watch.

Any one who pays 3000 bucks a idiot when a vintage one the original is cheaper. Think a vintage one can still be had for 700-800 for one that needs work and 1000-2000 for one in perfect and serviced condition. Here is mine got less than 500 in it when you could get a fixer upper for under 300 had Jack relume it has a watchmaker service it and replace the crystal I supplied still keeping great time. Any one ever notice the originals stay in the collection longer than reissue's ?

Mike if you know where to get an original in excellent and serviced condition I would appreciate if you pointed me in that direction.
Thanks!
I bet these originals are going to get crazy with this releasing. They're a bit pricey now but reasonable in comparison.

I own one that the previous owner had restored by IWW. It isn't perfect, but it looks good and runs well for a nearly 46-year-old watch. That said, I would gladly trade it for the reissue if I could. Why? The reissue is brand new, and likely a technological improvement over the watch it pays homage to.

Uncle Seiko has had a couple for sale. I think he’s got one now.

Jack worked on mine, too. It was in rough shape when I got it, but new lime, crystal, and a movement service brought it back from the dead.

My first vintage run was with Seiko.

I had a handful of dime piece 6105’s. I’m talking all white lume and no hand oxidation.
Those ran $500-$700 at the time.

Now a great condition 6105 is $1500 +.

I am sorry, but paying over $1000 for a 6105 is dumb. They are great looking but the movements are not as rock solid as newer Seiko. They don’t hold great time and not very shock resistant. Parts are hard to find... if you’re paying 2k for a 6105 then you have too much money.

Seiko charging submariner price for their new watches is hilarious- and it’s even funnier that people are paying $5000 for these new re issue Seiko.

DEATH FROM ABOVE

I got on that preorder, but I doubt I'll stay in through delivery. I have a very nice original 6105 and was thinking the modern would make for a nice pair...not sure at this potential price point, though. All watches are becoming too expensive - hard for me to justify any purchases lately. Almost feel like just selling everything. Especially, since I work from home and rarely even wear a damn watch.
