No date watches
Might be a strange question, but how do you guys who wear no-date watches cope? Especially those of you who transitioned from one with a date. I’m asking because I’ve always been a “must have a date” kinda guy,but there sure are some awesome no-date watches out there - Pams, Speedies, BB58, and so on.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Re: No date watches
I just check the date in the morning, and use my great sense of recall throughout the day.
Re: No date watches
It wouldn’t bother me if I never had the date on a watch again...I just think it ruins the symmetry of the dial. If there is a no date option of a watch I wanted I would always take it

I’m with you here. I love the look of my Speedy. The no date has me never wearing it.
Re: No date watches
I prefer no-date almost always if the option is there. For the times that I need to know the date during the day and I don’t remember, there is always something nearby to remind me (phone, computer, etc.).

Re: No date watches
I used to always be a date guy. Now it doesn't matter. Shit if you need the date, look at the phone. I go more based on the style of the watch. I'm a sucker for a color matched date wheel so if that's an option I'll usually go that route.

Re: No date watches
I don't have a preference one way or the other but we are surrounded by the date everywhere you look.
Some watches do look better without a date and some watches would have looked better if they were made with no date.

Re: No date watches
Purchased my first ND watch this year and was apprehensive due to how often I would need to recall the date for my investigative reports, statements, etc
Like others have said; really wasn’t all that difficult when you realize the date is almost always accessible - cell phone, desk phone, computer. Shit, it gave me something else to remember to exercise the brain.
There might also be a correlation; the more you like a watch the less the lack of date will bother you

Many will register, few will last
Re: No date watches
i'm not really sure what you need to cope with. it's not like i need to know the date anywhere as much as the time. 90% of the time that i need to know the actual date is to satisfy my need to set the date on my watches that have date wheels on them. those other moments, i just check my phone or glance at the bottom left of my computer screen.
Re: No date watches
I struggle at my job having a no date watch. This is why I now prefer to wear one of my square g shocks- it has time and date right there, stop watch 3 clicks over.
My problem was I was not sitting at a desk or had a calendar in front of me when I needed to see the date, so it was difficult. But on my days off- I was happy with a no date.
And you guys saying dial symmetry, I mean of course it ruins dial symmetry. But then you are wearing your watch for your own anal visual appeal.

Re: No date watches
I guess I reply so many emails a day that the actual date simply sinks in effortlessly... (this changes during the weekends... but heck, it's the weekend! )
no date = 1 thing less to change
no date = 1 thing less to change
Re: No date watches
Lol true. Most days I'm pretty sure I don't really even need to know the date ...gwells wrote:i'm not really sure what you need to cope with. it's not like i need to know the date anywhere as much as the time. 90% of the time that i need to know the actual date is to satisfy my need to set the date on my watches that have date wheels on them. those other moments, i just check my phone or glance at the bottom left of my computer screen.

Re: No date watches
I really prefer no date. I usually have to set a watch when I wear it and having to get the time to the correct am/pm and then get the date correct is just a waste of time. I see the date every second that I'm in front of the computer.

No date watches
I love no date watches. Always used to be a date guy but started to realize most of the time date placement really ruins the dial symmetry. If there is a date, I prefer it to be at the 6 o’clock location. If I do need to know the date (honestly we should all remember it to begin with) I just look at my phone or tablet.

No date watches
Very few watches are aesthetically improved by a date window.

this too. i need glasses to read it.1954Selmer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 7:14 amMy eyes can't focus on a date, so it looks like a blob of shit on the dial..
Re: No date watches
I prefer no date for the symetry of the dial, I can use my phone if I need the date, I'm in front of a computer all day as well so finding the date is not an issue.

Re: No date watches
I don't like the date as well.... I can usually remember the date but in those rare times when I do forget, I just look at my iphone's calendar app icon or my laptop
Re: No date watches
Love no date almost prefer it---that was not always the case though. At this point, between MS Outlook and my phone I have the date covered.

Re: No date watches
I always wanted the date on watches but have recently done a 180 unless it's a well blend window.

Re: No date watches
Any watch I've owned that doesn't have a date has been sold.Henryj wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 6:01 amMight be a strange question, but how do you guys who wear no-date watches cope? I want a date on my watches, actually prefer day / date. Function >> form
Edit: To clarify, I think if you're a guy who likes having a date, don't fight it. Loads of people aren't and care about other things, but if you're one of the few who doesn't want to look somewhere else, then leave those watches be that don't have one. Tons of options out there

Re: No date watches
I'm firmly in the no-date camp whenever possible, unless the date has been specially executed like a GO big date, a pointer/hand date etc.
Re: No date watches
I tend to prefer a no-date while I'm traveling for simplicity's sake, but honestly don't get all bent out of shape like a lot of guys seem to about whether or not a watch has one.
