For guys not familiar AMA means Ask Me Anything. It is a thread on reddit where you can ask questions while the ama is active.

I'm not sure about that price however. $2950!

It's actually a pretty cool looking watch, but I have no clue what Fallout is so the significance is lost on me, and the price point is absurd for a Laco.

From the net:
Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game is an open-world turn-based role-playing video game developed and published by Interplay Productions in 1997. The game has a post-apocalyptic and retro-futuristic setting, in the aftermath of a global nuclear war in an alternate history timeline mid-22nd century.

This watch is loosely based off the watch they had in the game I think. I am not a gamer but I loved Fallout when I played it.

It's only worth $2,950 if they had a radioactive Snoopy on it.

I didn't realize the cross section of gamer's and watch people would meet at that price level. That seems like something invicta would try to pull off at 4 easy payments of $49.99.

Guess they are thinking that the teenagers that played the game in 1997 now have money, 20 years later. I fall into that category and would never buy that watch  My non WIS peers usually wear an Apple Watch (or similar smartwatch)or a Tissot or some fashion watch you can get at Macy's.

Fallout is a game franchise- but I think in this instance they are referring to a type of finish. I’ve seen knives with a fallout, or post apocalyptic finish which is acid etched, and rough looking but looks great. Seems to me this is what they were going for. I think it looks awesome but I wouldn’t pay that much for it.

The Hoback fallout finish isn’t terrible. It’s not quite as prominent as the other examples, however.

Taken from the article. It is referencing the game.
The presentation of the watch is another way it connects back to the Fallout gaming universe. On the outside of the heavily-worn tin box, we see a stamp showing that it was issued to the Overseer of Vault #43. Inside the box, you’ll find the Laco RAD-AUX, a user manual (we’ll come back to that), and an accumulation of a few odds and ends. Presumably, the additional artifacts were collected by the owner of the Laco RAD-AUX before it was discovered. There are realistic Polaroid-style photos depicting abandoned landscapes, mutated plant-life, and a curious panther named Gloria. A bottle cap bearing the mark of a sunset, which has been turned into a pin. There is also a New California Republic ’protection postcard’ which instructs you to place it near the entrance of your domicile, and each item included looks realistically tattered and aged.

Now we see the difference between reading, and not reading the article Image

Too much forced oxidation on the watch case. You can see pitting in the metal case which is their intent. I like it otherwise.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.
