Damasko DA47

Post by watchingyou » Thu Sep 20, 2018 11:16 am

I have the DA-47 with the full lume dial and I believe it dates from 2010. It is losing about 30 seconds a day so I'm thinking it might be time for a service. Any recommendations for watchmakers here in the US? I work in NYC so does anyone know a good reasonably priced watchmaker there?

Thanks guys.

I think Dr. Jay found a local guy.

....or Terry’s guy?

Nice thing about Damasko is no goofy gas filling and they use standard movements.

Would I send it to Terry, or send it to his guy directly?

I believe T handles it. PM him. Many here have been pleased with his guy. My 2254 went there (before I owned it) and it’s running great.

Let me know how things work out for you.

At some point, I'd like to see if service on mine can correct the minute sub-dial hand alignment.

No money for repair at the moment; especially since time-keeping, hand reset, etc. is good.

Matt, if the hand functions correctly the hand needs to be removed and reinstalled

Thanks for weighing in.

Not sure if it's that simple since it initially hits the markers dead on, then moves off.

Then the hand might be lose. No way to tell without opening it up unfortunately.

I’d think it impossible to relume.

It would definitely fade. But I dont' think it would deteriorate. If it starts to to deteriorate you can put a stabilizer on it that will keep it in place.

I asked a friend of mine who makes dials and he said he doesn't think the lume dial is the same as the powdered version used on the hands. He thinks it is more of a paint. So there shouldn't be any longevity issues.

I had a lume dial and it was certainly not great lume. It was very white in daylight though which was an ok trade off.

Yes. Like I said, lume was ok but not blazing. Loved the watch. May pick up a black dial version some day.
