Re: Are we friends?
I would be your friend if you buy an OM I plan to re-list. That one in your post is beat up and ugly. Mine is purty. As a bonus you can drive the 454.

I remember when those were $150 or less at Seiko outlets. I'm a huge Seiko fan, but I still think those are ugly as heck.

And thanks for the offer, but your truck, I'm afraid, is not.

Aw, the 454 is a stylin' ride with a trick rear-end, well suited for slow refinery cruisin.

Ugly but charming. I miss my black and orange monsters.

I'd like to have another of these someday but whatever happened to the market/pricing nauseates me. Can't do it.
That beat watch the OP posted is worth I'd say 90 bucks. Bet he pays twice that.

I had two in the past, I hated them both equally

To be fair, I don't like the polished edges.

Agreed. Solid and nicely built for the price. It felt more solid than the 007 for similar money, but the Monster has a face only a mother could love. I’ve had both the first gen and sharp(fang?) markers.
Re: Are we friends?
Hated the bracelet. I recall like sleeves and pins and shit.

Re: Are we friends?
I had 3 I think. Ugly in a Tuna kinda way, without the cool history. Finally sold one because I bought an orange sumo and didn't wear the OM much anymore.
If you like them, do it and don't worry about what anyone says. Though personally, in the 'cheap Seiko with 7s26' I'd pick up a 009 ... but then it's no my wrist it has to go on

Hey, thanks for all the input, friendos.
The phrasing of the question at the top of this post is referencing the Required Viewing cartoon I watched my first day in the Forum, which, some of you may remember, makes repeated mention of The Bad-Ass Seiko Monster Dive Watch That Will Make Me Look Cool.
And, also, plus - A CONFESSION:
I actually brought the watch home yesterday, a couple of hours before I made this post. It's mine-all-mine. And the fact is, I really dig it - even more than I thought I would - ugly bracelet and all.
Fits my wrist like it was made for me. Dial is a little bit sun-faded, but it still lumes like mad. Has just enough in the way of scuffs and dings so's I weren't scared to wear it this morning to help my sister move house, but not so much that I'm scared of not being able to sell it for AT LEAST twice what I paid, should I begin to fall out of love.
All-in-all, at first blush, I'm pretty tickled.

I've still got both 1st Gen models and hardly ever wear them anymore. Was going to sell them, but then prices went nuts and decided to hold on to them for a while.hidden by leaves wrote:I'd like to have another of these someday but whatever happened to the market/pricing nauseates me. Can't do it.
