Or what about a not-even-nos 16710 coke bezel for 23.5 grand?

I want to try the same stuff these guys are smoking
3186 movement is the reason on the GMT. Still dumb.

Seems high but when new Sea-Dwellers are $11k, it seems a little more realistic. Watch prices across the board are insane.

You have to have money that you haven't earned yourself to spend so much on some aluminum bezel Rolex

Stuff like this makes me want to get money out from savings and buy that damn 14060m that I want now, or I might find myself just not getting one ever.

Honestly, it’s not a bad idea if it’s feasible and you really want one. The prices are never going down again IMO. If you ever need to flip it very likely won’t be an issue.

Yup it is completely nuts yet some will contemplate the idea just because it happens to have a green bezel.

I love watches but there is a point where it just turns stupid and with all the Rolex mother ship restrictions on ss models it has become stupid faster than I ever thought possible

A 16710 would be about the only Rolex w/cyclops that I could see getting. Looking at Chrono24, the spread isn't too bad.

The wheels are turning in my head, but without expert guidance...a pipe dream.

I wouldn't buy a $100 G-Shock from him.

Over there people were actually applauding him for getting the new Rolex Pepsi and selling it for 20K with stickers and all. Rolex needs to stop it ASAP.

I’m all for a free market, but this “grey dealer” stuff has made it virtually impossible for an average buyer to even find a stainless sports model at MSRP.

With my two decade long relationship with my AD, they have taken good care of me in the past. I’ve recently learned there will be no more of that with sports models. That said, when I’ve scored a deal on a Rolex and then decided to sell it, I’ve passed the deal along to the next guy here. Even if I had excess cash I wouldn’t buy from a grey seller because it perpetuates their existence.

It’s impressive how wildly opinions vary on DavidSW.
Care to elaborate why?
In brief:

1) I bought a watch from him that was DOA. No signs of shipping damage, pretty sure it was broken before it was shipped. Despite it being an in-house movement from a manufacturer that doesn't make parts available to 3rd parties, he wanted to have his watchmaker fix it. Eventually did accept a return.

2) I later inquired about a different watch that was described as 'excellent' condition but I requested additional pictures because I thought I was able to make out some dings in one of the photos. He did send additional photos, but they were taken from an angle that hid the area in question. I pushed him on it and eventually he did admit that there were some dings/scratches in that area. It was pretty clear to me that he was trying to send photos that purposely hid the damage.

3) I had some communications with him on other occasions that left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I know there are people here who have had good dealings with him, but my personal experience has been poor and I wouldn't consider buying from him again.

Given how quickly used Rolex prices became inflated the past 2-3 years, I could easily see another economic downturn making the prices drop again. People won't be so quick to open their wallets for $10k sports watches when their investment portfolio drops by 20-30%.

I did a deal with David a couple of years ago which I thought was fair. I have since tried to do a couple of others (trades); his offers were so low that I didn't even bother- I just said forget it.

On a separate note, I have a friend who manages a Tourneau and he says every Rolex that comes in goes out just as fast.

I think it is a matter of both the current economic boom and the fad of the moment being purposefully fanned by social media marketing. My older friends in the Houston area still refer to Rolex watches as Texas Timex due to how ubiquitous they were during the oil boom.

I really appreciate Rolex sport watches, but the logical part of my brain says “it is a machine made stainless steel sport watch with an in house movement”. Unique, but not singular for certain.

When I can buy a BB58, a BB GMT, and a GS diver (about $12K total) for the same or less than a Sub, I think the pricing logic train has left the station.
