Tempting, and he's told me he can do a swap, and then use the signed 6r15 rotor from my erratic movement.
Would be cheaper, and faster, than a service.

Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
definitely a better option. and this movement doesn't have the issues the og 6r15 does have

Really? I always thought they were exactly the same, except for the signed rotor? Were improvements made?toxicavenger wrote:definitely a better option. and this movement doesn't have the issues the og 6r15 does have
Kinda why I've not already had it done as I was afraid I'd end up with similar issues.
Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
That link takes me to a 2013 WRUW thread.

Pretty positive Spencer said there were improvements made. He would know if anyone would. Or ask Duarte, he is a smart dude.59yukon01 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 21, 2018 9:19 pmReally? Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
Been more than happy with Duarte’s work. Switching the problematic 6r15 for this might be worthwhile for those wanting auto, but I’d source the venerable 7c46 and do a full swap with Duarte instead.

Not sure it would fit? But if so sell the complete 6r15 outright. Someone will buy if the price is right.
Would be great if someone did the new 6r15 mm with high torque 7c46 and original mm300 hands.

Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
I must be new but what's wrong with 6r15 anyway?
I've had shogun for a few months and other Seiko watches with that movement and didn't notice anything

They are hit or miss on reliability and accuracy. The newer D versions are improved if I recall.

Eric, have you ever seen a 7c46 movement for sale? I think I have seen 2 in 10 years for sale.sierra11b wrote: ↑Sat Jul 21, 2018 10:17 pmBeen more than happy with Duarte’s work. There’s a few for sale now if I search “7c46 movement” on eBay.
Sorry my cell phone won’t let me link them here

Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
My SARB has the 6R15D. It’s a bit more consistent when worn than my previous ones, but it still loses time like crazy until it gets to full wind. I love Seiko’s style at this price point, but I’d buy another Hamilton with the 80 Hr power reserve over another 6R15. Really want another Khaki and every one I’ve owned has been crazy consistent regardless of the level of wind.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 10:48 amThey are hit or miss on reliability and accuracy. The 2824-2 is capable of excellent timekeeping. The 8L35 is, too. In my experience, the 6R15 is nothing more than a 7S26 with hacking, hand-winding, and a longer PR.Torrid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 12:44 pm

Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
That’s very much true. Unfortunately I had hairspring issues with the 8L35 too. I love Seiko, but I just have more confidence in Swiss options these days.Selym wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 5:03 pmThe 2824-2 is capable of excellent timekeeping. The 8L35 is, too. So do I. At least getting parts are easier.Torrid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 6:14 pmThat’s very much true. Unfortunately I had hairspring issues with the 8L35 too. Nice. Maybe send Spencer and email and see if he knows if it would fit.sierra11b wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 12:18 pmhttps://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-movem ... 3511780287toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 10:49 amEric, have you ever seen a 7c46 movement for sale? Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
Maybe a dumb question, but can I assume you could test the timing of a movement on a timegrapher to get an idea of its performance before buying?
I realize it would probably be different after a finished install, but just wondered.

Re: Duarte has a NE15 for sale
Sure, you can mount the bare movement in a timing machine. The timing should be the same whether it's cased or uncased. However, there might be a small difference in amplitude with and without hands fitted.
