OK I think im off the VC train and now going all mental over the 15202 and 15400...thx Rahul.....That 39 mm looks dope and ill bet even though the idea of 39mm is off-putting to me, it would fit well on my wrist....Also love the movement, just a beauty to look at....that said, i need a seconds hand....I cant deal with the idea of an auto watch with no moving seconds to stare at. I wonder if the 15400 would wear ok on small wrist as the bracelet won't drop straight down at the lugs, rather it flares out a bit. DAMN i love these.......

Yeah and the 15202 is now officially off my list as its like 2x the price.....Im looking to celebrate with a new watch, not get divorced....lol. 15400 wears a bit big IMO. Look at used 15300s as well.

Not sure where you're seeing them for $12K but the cheapest I see on recon is just under $17K. At that price I'd just go new.ericf4 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:03 amYeah and the 15202 is now officially off my list as its like 2x the price.....Im looking to celebrate with a new watch, not get divorced....lol. Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
The one other issue I've read about the APRO in general is that the bracelet, while beautiful, sometimes doesn't fit snug to the wrist depending on wrist size/shape. No matter the model, I would definitely try one on before I bought.

Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
I’d agree it wears larger than 41. I have a 7.5” wrist and it works for me, but wouldn’t want it to be much larger. There’s a 15300 that’s a little smaller I believe.dukerules wrote:15400 wears a bit big IMO. Look at used 15300s as well.
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
Given your preferences on watches, Eric, I think you'd like the wrist presence on the 15400.
Jeff's right about the sizing, but they do have half-links available for the bracelet.

Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
So as someone who has had all three of the APs I will pull some compare wrist pics, but for what it is worth I loved the 15300 much than the 15202 and 15400.
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
god knows what a half link for an AP bracelet costs.....im sure its comedic
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
So here are wrist shot comparisons of the 15202, 15300 and 15400 from when I owned each. Started with the 15400 and really liked it, but it was a bit too big and heavy for me in the context of an elegant watch and getting it around the same time as the SubC and glidelock, the SubC would win for comfort.
I then went to the 15202 because I wanted the blue, was born the same year, etc…, but it never felt right on the wrist, the lack of second hand bothered me and I had some issues with the links and a service that soured me on it a bit (at the time it was the most expensive watch I had ever purchased). A year or so later I got a 15300, which I owned the longest and liked the most from a size and feel standpoint. The two main issues I had with all of them and led me to sell were the lack of quick adjustment in the bracelet and way the clasp buttons would jab into the bottom of my wrist. Ultimately, for that AP look, I prefer the original AP Diver and then, for me at least, none of the three really compare to the PP Nautilus for this type of watch on bracelet.

And the half link was about $200 or more. Had one for all three of these -- and needed it for a better fit.
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
Thx for the details and shots!
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
Beautiful watches - the AP bracelet digging into my wrist thing is an annoyance I hope to one day experience.
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
just learning that getting an AP is near impossible from AD's according to Ross at ECJ Luxe. It seems he is like a year or more out on preorders for most models as AP has severely cut distribution by any retailers other than their owned stores. That is crazy. Being an AD it seems isn't that great at the moment. Nor being a customer wanting to buy from an AD> I may troll the forums for preowned.
Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
the AP Jumbo 15202 and PP Nautilus 5711 (not to mention the 5712 as well) have gone nuts in prices on the grey market. Waiting lists for both at the boutiques are just as insane as the prices. I love the steel Patek sport watches, but only for investment and eventual resale. They dont do anything for me aesthetics wise at all, but they do wear WAY more comfortable on more wrist sizes. The AP 15202 is a lot less forgiving on comfort and fit since the lug design is at a fixed angle.
A friend of mine was in Seoul last year on vacation, he went to the AP boutique and asked about the waiting list just for fun and they said it was estimated to be 10 yrs...
At the AP Rodeo Drive boutique, I heard it's about 3 years if you're an existing customer. No idea what it is if you're brand new to the boutique.

Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
What the fuck is wrong with these companies? Like AP and Rolex? There’s limiting distribution to increase demand, and then there’s just making it so impossible to actually buy one of their watches people will start just looking elsewhere.
Or do they think This is really going to solve the “grey problem”? Because all it’s going to do is make it worse, since greys will be the only places you can actually find one of these watches.
And 10 years? In 10 years, the Swiss watch industry will not look anything like it does today. In 10 years, “new” customers (those just old enough to finally have the means) will not give a fuck about Rolex or Patek or AP.
But what do I know? I’ll just buy stuff if I can find it used, or it happens to come to a dealer. I’m not paying bigly markup to a forum dealer.

Call some ADs other than ECJ Luxe. You may actually find a 15400 in stock somewhere.ericf4 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:28 pmNo shit. I have money today and want a watch today. The VC dial looks nice but I prefer the APP.

I had a RO 15300 with a blue dial and loved it. The half link was key.
Uncle Sam got it, though 🤨.

Re: Thoughts on Vacheron Constantin Overseas?
Only a rare few companies could cut off distribution like Rolex is doing right now and get away with it. In the short term to medium term, people still want to buy watches from them, so Rolex can afford it (the old "Rolex sells every watch it makes" chestnut). And it won't go on forever. There's all sorts of speculation on TRF as to why Rolex is doing it, a lot centered around trying to control the grey market, but no one really knows for sure.outtatime wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 6:46 pmWhat the fuck is wrong with these companies? I imagine it's the same for AP and Patek.
You don't see really good brands like Omega, Breitling, or Tudor doing this. As good as they are, it would seriously damage them.
It reminds me of a quote I saw back when Radiohead was one of the first major bands to simply release a new album to the general public over the internet instead of going through what were at the time regular channels for album distribution - "How do you successfully release an album over the internet like Radiohead? First, be Radiohead."
