New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
I just noticed a new entry in their website, and I couldn't find any previous discussions on this one. Neither old nor recent, so this must be a new offering altogether...
Helson Hammerhead.
(pics from Helson's website)
Specs are good: 42mm, 22mm lug size, 51mm L2L, ETA 2824-2.
Everyone has different views on "Homages", but personally, this is crossing the line from Homage to Copy for me.
I am a bit baffled. I mean, this watch exists today reissued by the original manufacturer, and to a pretty decent accuracy to the old one. I don't see the Helson version bringing anything new to the table.
But most of all, the Longines Legend diver can be bought new for around 1500 euros/U$S. Much less pre-loved. Yes, it's twice as much, but hardly a major investment considering it's the real deal from an established swiss company with a proper after sales support network.
I'm a recent convert and new Helson fan, but with this one I frankly don't see the point. Am I missing something ? Opinions ?

i saw the pic this am on another forum and was shocked at how blatant a rip off it is....
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
They should get the shit sued out of them....
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
Whoever did the pee job for that lume need to drink more water.
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
Oh hell yeah I'm getting that. can't find a no date LLD, Polaris is a poser joke of a diver, Alpina has a f-ed up date window at 4:15. This is it for the compressor.
Thanks for the heads up

wasn't there a LLD no date for sale here recently? Perhaps the price seemed a bit nutty if i recall, unless thats actually the going rate recently.

Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
yeah the LLD here was like 2100
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
the no dates sold out quickly and the secondary market on them has been stupid. i have no idea why longines made that such a limited run.

Probably better lume too, but I prefer the OG
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
i got no respect for a "brand" who literally rips off like this. Taking inspiration is one thing but this aint that....
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
It's a blatant copy but it's frustrating that there's nothing like this out there by anyone else including Longines, the one with the date is a no-go
Re: New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/
I get that ppl prefer the no-date version and Longines is not making it anymore. But to me, the phantom date-change position of the keyless is a constant reminder that it is NOT a true non-date watch.
I'd still rather put up with the date window and go for the real thing.

Just to be clear, I'm not judging you because you want to get one. Hell, to get the same watch (pretty much) at half the price, i understand....That said, Helson should be ashamed.

It's not about the price with me you know thatericf4 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 1:56 pmJust to be clear, I'm not judging you because you want to get one. Hell, to get the same watch (pretty much) at half the price, i understand....That said, Helson should be ashamed.
I would pay the exact same amount for what LLD NO Date retails for.
if anyone has a BNIB LLD No Date with over a year warranty left in their safe, let me know
if anyone knows of another company that makes a compressor style diver with screw down crowns, domed crystal and no date, let me know as well

you know what im saying dude. Point is, its not the buyer, its the maker i have issue with, regardless of your motivationsPanerai7 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 2:02 pmIt's not about the price with me you know thatericf4 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 1:56 pmJust to be clear, I'm not judging you because you want to get one. It's a shame that Alpina doesn't make a no date version of this:

Had the grey dial for a few weeks on loan and couldn't live with the date window.
