Basel Rumors 2018?
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
Looks like a moon phase?
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
yeah i think it is, he didn't say that it wasn't so i take that as a yes...lol
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
Very interested to see if Tudor can turn it around, or if they're going to continue to fuck it up. Really hoping for just more GMT options from everybody – Omega, Tudor, Grand Seiko.
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
I think they already have turned it around with their lineup the past few years, compared to a decade ago. Really wishing for a smaller Pelagos though.... but that would probably eat into Rolex sales........

Tudor was on fire when they released the BB, THC, Pelagos. Their newer stuff (ranger, north flag, fifty colors of everything) is a wet fart in comparison.
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
Agreed. When I first saw Pelagos I was speechless, still gets me from time to time. Then they did stained teeth LHD, colorblind picked their blue, added a paragraph of text on the dial...JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Mar 13, 2018 2:37 pmTudor was on fire when they released the BB, THC, Pelagos. Better than a decade ago for sure, but far worse than three or four years ago. Tide came in, and then left real quickly.

Just release a diver the size of a 16610 Sub. Keep the lugs thin. Give it a chamfer. I don't care if it's BB based, a Pelagos, or something new. It's not going to eat Rolex sales, but it will fill a wide open niche.

I keep wishing that Sinn would give us a Glidelock style micro-adjustable clasp for both bracelet and rubber. I’m sure it’s not happening, but I think it would be a wise addition.
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
In 5-10 years I’d imagine glidelock-style clasps will be the norm across the board for all manufacturers. It’s such a no brainer.hoppyjr wrote:I keep wishing that Sinn would give us a Glidelock style micro-adjustable clasp for both bracelet and rubber. I’m hoping Seiko improves their adjustable clasp on whatever the new iteration of the MM300 is.

Most of these brands have thrived due to the hot market created by the modern watch fad. Not by having smart managers.Seppia wrote: ↑Tue Mar 13, 2018 10:56 pmIt’s incredible the number of wide open layups all brands seem to keep missing.JP Chestnut wrote:Just release a diver the size of a 16610 Sub. The above is one of them
A normally sized GS diver is the other one (they will add a 48mm version before they come out with a 41-42mm)

I’ve never even tried a Sinn rubber for that issue. I’ve tried them on, but they were used and not cut to my wrist. The whole slice off as much as you need sizing solution seems super outdated.

SInn should take a look at the Oris buckle for their rubber straps.

Cutting to size a rubber strap on a modern mid to high end watch is unacceptable.....it smacks of shortcutting and cheapness.....Hate that..BBK357 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:13 amjimyritz wrote:====================

The nautilus bracelet clasp is state of the art 1960s. Innovation ain’t their thing.matt.wu wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 9:19 amTell that to Patek and the Aquanaut...ericf4 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:38 amCutting to size a rubber strap on a modern mid to high end watch is unacceptable.....it smacks of shortcutting and cheapness.....Hate that..BBK357 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:13 amjimyritz wrote:====================

Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
Back when a Sinn was $1500 +/- the bracelet and clasp were acceptable, but with watches in the $3k + range I think adjustable is appropriate.
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
it sure would be nice. once you've worn an adjustable on the fly clasp, everything else just feels cheap. especially if you're in that "weather changes hourly" time of year.
Re: Basel Rumors 2018?
No adjustable clasp this year, but I like everything else.
