Not sure how many other prog rock guys we got here but Marillion has been a favorite of mine since the 80's. After 35 years of listening I finally got the chance to seen them in the US. The theater is a killer small old theater near my house. Just a great spot for shows.

Nice - love me some prog. I’ve listened to a some Marillion but got into modern prog late by way of Porcupine Tree.

Love porcupine tree.
Check out:
Big Big Train
Spocks Beard
Transatlantic
Flying Colors
Liquid Tension Experiment
Haken
Some of my favs. Only downside to prog. You don't get hot chicks at the shows. Dudes with rush t shirts. That's about it.
I love the Marillion sound. Steve Rothery's guitar playing reminds me of Gilmour in that it's not about how many notes he plays as much as what he doesn't. He holds notes to let the song melodies soar. FN great.

I'm a big fan.
The Royal Albert Hall last October was one of the best shows I've ever been to - emotional

Absolutely endorse the Porcupine Tree (and Steven Wilson's solo stuff & Backfield) recommendations as well as BB Train. May I add:
Pineapple Thief
Von Hertzen Brothers
Lunatic Soul
Amplifier
Riverside
Anathema
I also agree about Rothery and the Gilmore comparison.

Some good recommendations - haven’t heard of a few of these so will have to crank up for the Spotify. Thanks. Just bought Pineapple Thief’s latest on vinyl - good listen. Looking to get Anathema’s The Optimist as well - like that one.
Big fan of Steven Wilson and Blackfield.
