We might be reading a bit too much into this example. Looking at the thread in the UK forum, the OP talks about the case refinishing and states "...watching Rocco work using a lapping machine..." This suggests to me the OP isn't claiming to have done the refinishing themselves.
Is it possible Montoya's first name is Rocco and the photo is actually of his work?
EDIT =>. Just searched and found out Montoya's first name is Jorge. Maybe "Rocco" is an employee?

No, LA area according to the Google map insert. I am wrong. Nick's concerns appear valid. It is sketchy.

I did. But then I discovered duct tape

I appreciate all the comments.
They were all valid points that I'll go and address.
Thanks for your time, hopefully I'll graduate to "3 screwdriver startup status" after I implement all the ideas.

If one of my students submitted this business plan as their final project their award would be "B-".
With that said, I think there's space for your service in the market. And I hope you it works out.

This isn’t a startup so much as it is an Angie’s List business model. Give referrals to established businesses and take a cut for bringing them customers.

I think it’s a great idea man if they have references. Any pictures of work really must be their own work. In the end Alex remember your own reputation will be tied to this endeavor. I would think very carefully about that piece.

Hey guys, I really appreciate the honest & earnest concerns. I went over them all and I was not able to fix or have solutions for all of them. I bit more than I could chew with this endeavour and for that reason I have shut it down.

I think this is a good idea, but it needs a large community behind it to work, and I don't see how you can monetize that. I'm thinking something like this:
http://www.mtbr.com/user-reviews.html
But reviewing services, not parts. If WUS, TRF, or TZ put some effort into something like that, it MIGHT work - though most of those guys don't know enough to assess anything.
