Thank you. What a warm welcome. I hope you don’t give me too much curry in the future, if I share some of my grump old fart ideas.

I tried a few careers (Banking, Corporate Treasury, Funds Management, CEO of a Furniture Manufacturer), but I lost the plot, took some time out to be an actor (was the photo double for Agent Brown in the Matrix, and the Banana Man in Dark City…did not even get in the credits…) ran out of money so I did a Masters Degree in Accounting and joined the ranks of the bean counters….Thank you bean counters out there….stand up and be counted.

To set the record straight…I do not have 40 cars – that is about (possibly more) that I have owned. At the peak I was holding about 12 FIAT 500’s and a few were Abarth models. Now only the Golf, Camry and Kate the 928.

Sorry about the Orange confusion, but I am here in the Southern Hemisphere and it has been hot as ….30Cplus. A little cooler today currently 23 inside the house.

Just a little more background: I spent my very early years in Virginia and a little time in San Francisco – yes USA. I was traumatised by a pre-school teacher who sent me home because I did not speak English – so I am fearful of American Authority figures. Then off to the tropics and lived in Singapore until I went to Australia to do my secondary education at an all-boys grammar school, where I was again traumatised, by the obsession of Australians with Sport, Sport and more Sport.

Here are some photos of some (some) of the watches and my new wheels (one of) for Kate and some leather for the new bands.

I used to hate bush, but now I don't mind it. The elderly here must be rubbing off on me.

Let's see some pics of Kate or one of your GFs.

Yes mate…still working with Daz. He has got a new electric bike and still lives with Colin (the cat), a Model A Ford and he also has a Daihatsu Handi Van.

The Kinderfocken and I saw a Wallaby (small Kangaroo) in town over the school holidays. Quite a rare sight. But 8 minutes’ drive from home and we are in the “bush” farmland, the girls school, vineyards etc… Orange is famous (soon to be) for cool climate wines.

There are 34 wineries around, but like most things far too expensive. I would go broke drinking local wine – good quality wine starts $20 for non-Orange, for Orange expect to pay $35 or more for the average stuff. We have a mate who sells his shit for $55 a bottle (cheapest) and he sells the lot – more money than sense.

I found another lot of watches/movements. Basically, mostly Russian Vostok cal. 2809 (the Zenith-copy inspired) and some cal. 36, 3601 etc…I have far too many watches/movements. I got quite obsessed with them. I need some help – quick…ha-ha

What a great welcome from everyone.

Thank you.

I have a question regarding admin....when I return, is there a way to see the new threads since my last visit. I find this facility very helpful??

Opa is here for my youngest Kinderfockens' birthday (tomorrow - also She who must be obeyed - wife from the UK series Rumpole). It will be a stressful few days. At least he is wearing his new Grand Seiko Spring Drive - It is a thing of technical wonder. Not exactly my style - but I would have it in a heartbeat. It was not until I was able to wear it that I really appreciate the Seiko quality.

The mean part of me says "he is 88 so how long do I have to wait"...that is mean to the old bloke.....but sometimes he really pissed me off. We will try. 25mins before I pick up the girls.

Dan

Welcome to the forum I also live in the middle of nowhere but in Montana the state has the population of one large city in Calif. like LA of SF the way I like it also no dam traffic and no noise at night you just got to handle the cold in winter but the wild life you can see about 20 miles from were I live right off the road saw a heard of about 5000 elk. I also collect vintage clocks and watches. My sister said my house looked like the one in the movie like the one in the time machine were he had all those clocks in the house. See you like Enicar and Eterna watches only have this one in the collection out of those two brands should of got a few vintage Enicar years ago now I can't afford them.

I use the "active topics" link almost exclusively. There is also an "unread topics" link which should work.
