i'm wondering how many of the butthurts who say they're done with halios will either buy on secondary or try again when the opportunity presents itself. also, how many of them were actually just speculating and planning on reselling.

Lots for resale for sure. You'll probably see some of the undelivered orders listed today.

I'm planning on listing one or both of my original Seaforths since I got ones with date. Never knew he was gonna release ones with ETA and date, or I wouldn't have ordered the original ones!

I feel like going on Watchnet and listing my yellow dial for $1,999 just to mess with people.

if i had remembered, and then actually got one, i would have resold one of them. probably the blue from the first batch. not because i wanted the date or even the ETA. prefer the no date, but now that i have my blue 556i, i wouldn't mind swapping the seaforth to a different color.

If anybody is looking to move a Gen 2. Let me know.

I am interested in pastel, yellow or gray. Preferably in that order.

Congrats to those that snagged one.

Barry

I got myself a couple of fixed bezels. Blue dial and grey dial.
Pm or text me when you're ready to move these.

Well let's hope for a ver3 pre-order.

Seems like that may be likely for round 3 based on IG

They seem nice enough but I would never waste my time dealing with their shit ordering process to get one. Seriously get a decent ecommerce platform and sell to people in the manner that they want to buy.

I agree. Why not just have a constant ongoing production of them.

But maybe if that was the case, they would not be in such high demand.

I think Jason makes a good watch, but too be honest with all the options out there these days, not sure why so many go gaga over them.

at least some of it is the hype of hard-to-get. the first round of seaforths didn't disappear in 3 minutes. but i think they were sold out the first day. second round was immediate. and this past round was a mess.

i've said it before. jason is at a crossroads with his brand and needs to make some hard decisions about where he wants to go. doing preorder or build-to-order sounds good, but if he stuck with similar volumes, the preorders would just sell out in minutes and people would be just as pissy. if he ups his volume 3-5x, will he be able to support it as a solo owner? that's 3x-5x the QC, 3x-5x the aftercare support, a lot to ask of one guy. especially one who generally tries to do right by his customers (i've had a couple of very good support experiences with him).

so if he expands his volume, how does it affect those facets of his business? if he hires people, will that change the quality?

if he expands the volume on individual models, does that mean new models less often? will that make him enjoy his business less?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

there may not be a solution that makes both him and his expanding customer base happy.

I'll not participate in this mess. Too much drama. Cool watch, but not cool enough for me to stress over ordering.

I do feel for Jason though. I assume he has to pre-purchase the watches from his manufacturer overseas. If we assume he's paying $150 per watch from the manufacturer and he orders 500 watches, he's writing a $75,000 check up front. If his up-front cost are more, he could be writing a check closer to $100,000. That's a pretty good size check.

He could do pre-orders with a deposit I guess, but those can get messy and if the watch is delayed, people bitch.

I guess, if I were in his shoes, I'd rather have people complain about not being able to get one through an open purchase process than bitch about pre-order delays, etc.

The biggest gamble in his business, I'd think, is measuring market demand for the product against his fiscal ability to order. His first two stock order gambles seem to have paid off. Would a third order pay off equally, or would he potentially be sitting on some unsold stock?

I think there is a old entertainer's adage that says "always leave them wanting more". Probably good advice.

I agree with this. It's the fairest process and relatively cut and dry, you are either fortunate and order one in time or you don't.

If you want to see real tomfoolery with supply and the market, just look at what Rolex is doing these days.
