Nylon “Tactical” Belts - China $10
I am constantly receiving emails from Chinese companies, selling EDC gear, flashlights, knives etc etc.
Last Saturday, I got an email from a site called GearBest. On the front page, there were “Outdoor Tactical Training Nylon Belt with Cobra Buckle” for
$10.20.
I had a look and from the pics, they looked surprisingly decent. I have paid well over $60 for similar belts. I figured, WTH, I’ll order a couple and check them out.
They arrived today, 4 day shipping from China, via DHL. I had to pay $21 in duty, but that was to expected.
Holy crap! The quality and weave of the nylon is impressive! The “zinc alloy” belt buckle is solid and the moving parts seem to lock in to place well.
For a total of $34.52usd, for 2 belts and shipping...I am impressed! I have seen better quality but for the money and what I will use them for, well worth the $$.
I guess that we all know that most gear we are using, comes from overseas.

I’d be careful about putting a legitimate load on that buckle. Probably fine for day to day, but I wouldn’t bet my life on it.

That looks decent, and for the money, I'd take a flyer on it as well.
What gets me thinking, however, is the crap I spend money on and the crap I don't. My nylon weave belt has got to be close to 7 or maybe 8 years old now. It still works. I haven't really thought about buying another one.
Now flash a shiny new dive watch in front of me and watch how fast I'll jump....

Not bad, I may try them next time I need a belt.
I like belts from Thomas Bates.
I had a few nicer belts I bought while in Florida on my honeymoon at a boat/sport shop.
Years later I ordered the nylon with plastic buckle- one is still kicking and I just broke one buckle finally last week. I just placed another order for 2.
I bought 2 different series- spent about $30.

The only load that the buckle might take, is one from Hoppy...Grahamcombat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2018 6:38 pmI’d be careful about putting a legitimate load on that buckle. Probably fine for day to day, but I wouldn’t bet my life on it.

They will be used as "day to day" belts, not for work.

Yes, I like the belt loop on the 5.11.
I am not suggesting that these are anything more than a day to day belt, to hold up my jeans....but for $20, they are decent.

I’d like to grab a couple and destructive test the buckle. If it’ll hold I’d grab a bunch of them for lots of uses. #davidcarradinetravelkit

Re: Nylon “Tactical” Belts - China
So true. I’ve had the same main casual leather belt since 2007 and am loathe to spend the $50-$60 to get a new one since it’s perfectly fine, but if I see a good deal in the sales forum I’ll drop whatever money in a whim. Funny how that works.Ryeguy wrote:That looks decent, and for the money, I'd take a flyer on it as well.

Looks like they ripped of the buckle of the VTAC belt. Here's mine.

Why do you think they named the belt buckle "ennui?"

Seriously, the best thing about Chinese company knock-offs is the English language names they pull from the hat.

Re: Nylon “Tactical” Belts - China $10
for those wondering WTH is he talking about -- years ago Paul posted a thread in WUS Dive Forum as "Post up your Tasticals!".... all knew he meant tacticals with a spell slip, but the testical reference carried on for a while.... the thread lived on for several years with daily bumps, and the thread title couldn;t be changed. a WUS mod finally closed it and asked someone start a new thread on the topic, with correct spelling.deepcdvr wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 6:35 pmHey now!justsellbrgs wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 6:58 amI'm going to throw this up for a classic PAUL reference:

^^ close, but what actually happened was that I started the thread with “post your tacticles”. I fixed it the same day, but by then my mistake had been seen
WUS closed the thread after three years and over 800 replies due to “no weapons rule” infractions. Sad

Yep. I would surf to WUS before I was a member of any forum just to see the watches on that thread. At the time my grails were ocean7, korsbek and Sinn u1
