Help needed with potential buyer
Re: Help needed with potential buyer
Is all this bickering about a $200 watch? Roll the dice.

Just roll the dice at this point.
Re: Help needed with potential buyer
HaHa! I didn’t even see that part, I only paid attention to the payment issue. $200CGSshorty wrote:Is all this bickering about a $200 watch? Roll the dice.

Because if you feel it’s shady, with payment by someone else’s PayPal and it taking a few days to clear, that gives the seller pause. You can cancel a sale at any time an as long as he refunded the payment, no harm.Seppia wrote:That would be a terrible way to do business.tattoo chef wrote:
Cancel the sale and re-list on WUS or put on eBay and just charge enough to cover eBay and PayPal fees.
The buyer has complied to the OP's requests, why should he cancel the sale?

Re: Help needed with potential buyer
It’s a $600 watch. And I asked him to do the deal a certain way, he did.
So unless something unforeseen happens, I’m shipping the watch.

Totally siding with Graham on this one.Grahamcombat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 10:39 amAnd our guy, Hop, never took any of the advice from us. Our advice was, collectively, to walk away.
But he didn’t.
But that doesn’t mean that what our guy did require - which the kid has done - was done in bad faith by the kid.
The theme around here is the sky is falling, yet everything our guy asked for has been done.
Can the kid fuck him? Sure. But right now the kid is out everything. Is it a shady deal and probably shouldn’t have been done? Likely, as indicated, but our guy ignored all of that.
Our guy took the field. So now, with both money and watch in hand, our guy is the one with the power and still holds the watch.
So I go back to where I started: ship the watch, the kid did everything this shitshow cluster of a deal required.
Do I think this will end well? Not in the least, I give it about a 10% validity and that’s just because I happen to love Korean BBQ. But right now, all things being equal, our guy is the shady one.
Demands have been met, play the game.
Utah get me two!
The kid did everything you asked.
You have the money and watch.
Chicago has lots of Koreans. Too many. So at least we know there is a good chance this person from Chicago is Korean, lol.
Here is what I would do before you seal the box for shipping(if you are still worried).
-Go to post office.
-Place open shipping box with watch box inside(show watch in photo) on the kiosk scale and take photo. Use a smart phone so the photos will be date stamped.
-Take photo showing actual weight of entire package.
-Take photo of shipping address on monitor.
-Seal package and adhere paid shipping label.
-Place package on kiosk scale and take photo again to show paid shipping label and exact same weight as before package was sealed.
-Give to postal clerk.
-Pray and have a glass of Sangria.
I have a good feeling this transaction will go smoothly.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.
Re: Help needed with potential buyer
Good call, Mark;I would send the watch. I don’t do PayPal and have asked “PayPal friends”to cover me several times - this evening, as a matter of fact...
I’m a pretty trusting fellow, though (I have a strong penchant for revenge if slighted, nonetheless). The kid paid F&F to someone he never met. I did that a few times back in the day and everything worked out ok

I haven't updated my LinkedIn in years, perhaps I should do that.ericf4 wrote:i look every person up im selling to on Linkedin, Facebook , Google etc. I then look up their address too to ensure they all tie together. Not perfect but it gives me much more ease of whom im dealing with.

This is like watching a train crash in super slo-mo.
The winner does or does not get $200.
Fucking hell.

I owe you an apology, I didn't read the thread properly, and regardless, my last post was genuinely out of order (I was a little bit drunk)
After a few beers I can easily mistake 'being a dick' with 'hey I'm funny', so please accept my apologises

Re: Help needed with potential buyer
FINAL UPDATE. So the money cleared, I sent the watch. He got it, was happy. A few hours later, he noticed the movement got damaged in shipping. (Wait for it.) So he went to Tourneau, the watch guy said it was off. He let me know what was up. He wanted me in the loop, but wouldn't accept any offer to pay to have it fixed. He just wanted advice on where/how/etc. Turns out he's a good guy, just a new one.
Happy ending.
Happy ending.
