Life Is Good!
My youngest grandson, 3 year old Sam, lives in Kauai.
He has a way about him, everything done with gusto.

Damn; just saw a news item that there was an in-bound missile alert in Hawaii this morning.
Thank God it was not correct.
Hawaii's proximity to North Korea is on my mind these days.

Re: Life Is Good!
We’ve rented a house there this summer and my wife is more than a little concerned.
I keep telling her: we’ll drive or run towards the flash.

Re: Life Is Good!
I spoke to my daughter about the alert.
Her older son (9 year-old Neil) first heard the alert on her phone.
She said it took about 20 minutes or so to hear that it was a false alarm.
That must feel like hours as you sit in front of the radio listening for updates.
She sent this picture a few days ago of my two grandsons (on the left) and their friends watching the waves.
I guess they will start looking up in the sky for missiles, too.

Re: Life Is Good!
That has to be an absolutely horrible feeling.
When I saw that they had said it was a false alarm I was ecstatic, and then appalled (not surprised) at how a system could make such a mistake.
That’s a long time to think of your fate. And what triggered the false alert? Did the system actually “work” and something on their side just didn’t get off the ground??
Or is our nations’ best alert option no better than the reservation notifiers they hand you at The Cheesecake Factory?
Neither one is acceptable. At some point, as just a regular citizen, they better give us answers and accountability.
This wasn’t a “minor” thing. It “played” minor to the nation as a whole because it’s Hawaii, but replay this with New Yorkers getting that alert, or DC.
Wtf. Unacceptable.

Missile? Sam would have caught that bare handed and sent it back.mattcantwin wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 10:40 amDamn; just saw a news item that there was an in-bound missile alert in Hawaii this morning.

Re: Life Is Good!
That missile story is crazy. I'm taking my family to Hawaii next month to visit my buddy (USAF Col.) stationed there.
Apparently, my buddy (who was at work) knew within minutes the report was false, but couldn't tell his wife who was huddled in their bathroom with their kids. Needless to say, she is not pleased with him right now.
The fact someone could "push the wrong button" and sent an entire community into panic is unbelievable. This needs to be addressed.
@Matt, we are staying a few days in Kauai at Poipu Beach. We look forward to dinner at the Beach House restaurant. It was my wife's favorite place to watch the sunset when we went there on our honeymoon years ago.

Matt, it seems your grandson can win - everything!
Re, the false missile alert - I've tried to come up with words to describe how f**ked up that is, but I can't.. it's simply beyond anything you could say. If ever there was a more deserving usage of 'WTF', I don't know. Just utterly unbelievable - I mean WTF. Plus 20 odd minutes to rectify.. WTF MkII. WTF. Really WTF.

Re: Life Is Good!
I don’t want to even imagine doing this with my kids. What an absolute nightmare, especially away from home.
I can totally imagine the thought train going through my head about pre blast, blast, and post blast life. What the fuck. I am sincere when I say if I were holding my young daughters underneath an inbound nuke I would REALLY REALLY REALLY want us to only have a pre blast life.
There was just a news blip from AP or Reuters (I get about a dozen of them because of my stuff with FOX) that said something close to “wife told kids it was just a storm while husband got everyone into culvert”...
The worst part of this whole thing is one day, and it could be pretty soon, there is a high likelihood of it actually happening.

Awesome photos!
Some people just have a way with words, and other people … oh … not have way.
