New ropes

Post by Grahamcombat » Sat Dec 30, 2017 12:59 pm

New year, new ropes.

There’s a used/salvage equipment company not far from here and I stopped by this morning to get a replacement rope set.

70’ of 1.5inch for fifty bucks.

The ropes, the tire, the sledge, the sandbags, and the pull-up/dip set and a guy can get real happy here.

New ropes

They can get pretty big. That one at the house isn’t big, comparatively, to some at gyms and sites. But it was the biggest one I could get from the local tire shop at the time, so it works for me and the kids.

It works a combo for me: flipping, dragging, “box” jumps, and hitting with that sledge.

Next time you need old line let me know. Always old tow hausers and mooring lines to be scrounged up.

Nice. I’ve been using heavy d-balls lately. They give you an incredible workout.

I've been seeing a lot of d-bags lately, not many d-balls around here. Image

I have no idea WTF you all are talking about.

Doesn’t anyone just bench, squat, dead, and hit the heavy bag for a while any more?

I do very little bench work. I do mostly Olympic lifts (snatch and clean and jerk) with a lot of squats and deadlifts.

Wish my gym had d-balls, they sub wallballs for the movement, but it’s not the same.

They’re not cheap. Wallballs are not a good substitute.

There’s not place to bench here Image so this is what I got. There’s also a pull up bar on the other side of the house, but I’m thinking of pouring some footers and putting one off to the side, beside the tree.

I’ve wanted to hang a bag under the deck out back but it’s going to get destroyed outside. Also mulling over dropping a 12’ conex for a little indoor/outdoor but this has worked fine for years.

Plates and bars get rusty but who cares? I just put a light coat of fingernail polish on everything and it’s like new Image

Those stones do scratch the ever loving shot out of ToxicN8O piece tho, which is why I haven’t worried about getting it to match the case finish.

Biggest we have is 30#, not nearly heavy enough. Wish we had some bikes too. Sigh.

I’ve been looking at stationary bikes. My brother has one - and I’m not judging - but I’m pretty sure it’s not getting used as a bike. Laundry hanger, yes. Box holder, yes. So I think I’m going to snag that from him and throw it downstairs. I spend a lot of time on the paddle board but I feel like I’d spend quite a bit of time on the bike, especially if it’s in proximity to that tv.
