Towels, seriously towels

Post by Grahamcombat » Sat Dec 30, 2017 1:29 pm

So I’m a towel freak. I kinda want them a certain way, basically huge and soft. I ran across these Turkish towels at the market in DC and have become a fan.

They’re big and they’re soft. If you’re looking for badass comfy towels give these a shot. They’re from a company called Coastal Home & Body; an internet search brings them up quickly. They cut me price break on quantity so I paid $60 each. Totally worth it.

The owner is a born & raised Marylander who has family that have married into one of the finest textiles manufacturers in Turkey. Yeah, like: score. Anyway, I love em. I’m 6’5” for reference.

My wife makes fun of the enormous towels that I buy. She buys tiny ones that can’t be securely wrapped around my XXL frame.

Towels, seriously towels

Post by Grahamcombat » Sat Dec 30, 2017 1:37 pm

My wife said, “I can’t believe you spent this much money on towels,” and, promptly after showering, told the kids “none of these towels are for you. If I see you using these towels I’m taking away your phone.”

Their cabinets are now full of every other towel we had. It looks like a YMCA lost and found.

Lol. I hope you're naked behind that towel. Otherwise, I'm disappointed.

I love big towels... but that may be too big. Do they have a smaller size?

I absolutely hate small coarse towels.

yeah, you're weird, eric.

i love big heavy turkish towels. the bigger ones are usually bath sheets, the smaller ones bath towels.

i like the ones we got from restoration hardware 15-20 years ago. was good timing, we'd just redone our bathroom and got the navy blue towels for half off.

These are the ones I got, though mine seem longer than 70 inches they’re definitely 40 wide. And thick, like a plush blanket. $60 each, bought a dozen for our bath.

I assumed Graham scrubbed himself with half a brick laced with WD40, and dried himself off in the warm glow of a hot m60 barrel

Seriously though.. you can't beat a good super soft towel. I've got some Egyptian cotton towels.. they take a time to 'break in', but they are super soft.

There was a hugely successful Kickstarter towel that everyone seemed to love - I can't remember the name, but it was a waffle pattern towel.

These are waffle-like and just cozy. There’s no other way to say it: they’re like a fleece blanket. It’s awesome.

And that would be a MK48-Xray barrel :-)

I know here we like spending lots of money on various hobbies but...

$60, seriously $60 for a towel? Fuck that shit.

It goes on my balls, bro. It goes on my balls.

In context, I’ve spent over three million on the other thing in my life that goes on my balls and it’s not nearly as accommodating when I want to dump a random load on it.

This towel gets me.

Just use the HTWWBA (Husband to wife watch buying algorithm)...

Wife: Is this a new towel? Looks expensive
Husband: Yes, it is, but it I sold some old towels, and so it didn't cost me anything
Wife: I don't know why you bother, they all look the same to me.. and don't spend the afternoon photographing it, the driveway needs cleaning.

Costco towels generally at our house. However we both appreciate nice big quality towels when staying at luxury hotels etc... can’t let my wife see this thread though or she’ll be ordering up some of these!
