Speedy ?
I picked up a speedy here over the summer. It was purchased in 2015 but serviced in 2016 when a crystal issue was found.
The power reserve on it sucks. I can wind it in am, wear it, and noticed by evening it has stopped hours ago.
Thoughts? Watch is in Austin now and was actually purchased there originally. Any benefit to taking back to them vs somewhere else?
Thanks

Re: Speedy ?
Getting the obvious out of the way: are you winding it until the crown physically stops turning?
Re: Speedy ?
This. Also check the hands are not set too low and touching the dial. Have had this with a serviced auto (Kobold) it was not losing much time as the hand was just slightly bent at service. Call the original service guy. Failing that Then obviously send it in for service. Nesbitts in Seattle do great Omega work.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2017 8:21 amGetting the obvious out of the way: are you winding it until the crown physically stops turning?

Re: Speedy ?
It was serviced about a year before I purchased it. I am definitely not winding until it stops. I do about 25/30 winds just in habit. I will try that first. Hands look ok to me. Thanks as always!
Re: Speedy ?
Wind until it stops. Also if you use the chrono it will deplete power reserve sooner.
Re: Speedy ?
You bought mine, correct?
I purchased it the beginning of this year (2017) and it was serviced by Omega around May. They do pretty solid QC so I’m guessing the full wind will resolve it.
I’ll also buy it back if you’re tired of it.

Re: Speedy ?
I do a full wind on mine everyday. Pretty sure the mechanism is designed for it unless you are a gorilla.
Also, just a tip, they are easier to wind when holding upside down.

I (gently) wind both of my hand crankers (Rolex and Magrette) until they stop otherwise how do you know how wound it is?ericf4 wrote:ive never wound a watch until it stops.....really? I never go that far with it....

Re: Speedy ?
You just wind it with a light touch. Right when you feel some resistance stop. It’s not really that big of a deal.

Re: Speedy ?
Since I am a vintage collector were a good amount of my collection are wind ups. You wind them till it stops you wind it halve way that dam watch going to stop at halve the power reserve how wonder it stops. This is not a automatic were you can wind it a little and the rotor in the movement will wind it the rest.

Re: Speedy ?
My Speedy takes around 50 turns to fully wind it. Trust me, you'll know when to stop winding so don't worry.

Soooo.. let's slow it down here for a minute, and gently pour a large ice cold beer, and breathe... take a sip of nectar, and contemplate..

..don't know how to wind a fucking watch.
