Return of the Boschett Cave Dweller

Post by Chocodove » Fri Dec 22, 2017 12:11 pm

When I got back into the watch game after a few years around 2010 or so I really wanted one of these. My tastes and budget have since changed, but I expect these to sell well.

"It's been nearly five years since our last production run of Cave Dwellers and it's still the most popular watch among our customers," said company president Keith Boschetti after conducting four weeks of marketing research. "Over and over again our customers said that the Cave Dweller was the watch they wanted, so that's what we're going to build."

Boschett plans to release 100 new Cave Dwellers for sale early next year. The company will begin accepting customer orders in late January with pricing, watch movement and full details to be announced soon.

Every production run of Cave Dwellers in company history has sold out.The Cave Dweller is water resistant to 1000 meters and features a sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel case, automatic movement and superluminova treated hands.

There was a white dial for sale on Watchfreeks for almost 2 months, that finally sold. Nice watch, but it looks thicker than the MM300 going by his pictures.

So weird to see owner write in third person yet again.

I had a couple of these but always wanted that blue one.

Had a blue dial with SS bezel. Loved that watch but taste changed so it was sold. First micro I bought.

Dimensions: Case - 44mm w/o crown, Height - 16.5mm, Bracelet - 22mm wide

If I recall years ago Keith told me this watch sold every time restocked them. I am glad he is still around. He is a cool dude to do business with.

I read something crazy the other day, Mitch from Ocean 7 is still in business. WHo would have thought.

i declare shenanigans on that case only being 16.5. unless he's not counting the bezel and crystal.

seriously, though, that's the tallest looking 16.5mm i've ever seen.

I’ve always loved the photos of the cave dweller, but never pulled the trigger. If it’s really that thick, I’m out. 14 or under and I’d look at it seriously.

EDIT: Holy shit - just saw the watchfreeks FS post and that’s one thick MoFo! I’m out.

I have always loved the pics of them also, but they are way to big for me.

Ironically.. if you're into cave exploration, you'd probably want a thin and lightweight watch.

I've been lusting for the grey dial for a long time. It is a thick watch for sure. A friend of mine has the white dial Watchfreeks edition one and I tried it on. Fits very well and l2l was spot on. But i do agree if it were thinner it would be even better.

I'm really curious to know what movement Keith will go with. Hoping a hacking movement like a 9015 to keep it affordable. I always passed on the 8215 non hacking he used before. I hate that movement.

I didn't like the 8215 either. I really liked this one I had. Crazy thick, but I liked it. Lol just was looking for a pic and realized I actually owned two of these : P (Blue dial was my fave).

I owned a gray dial gen2 for a very short time. Crazy thick. Can't find pictures but I remember I only wore for a day or two. Flipped that massive chunk of steel really quick.

I thought these were so cool in 2009.
Now, not so much.

It is. It’s because it’s all case so it appears even larger.
