Very slow year for me, but did get one I've wanted for a while. MM300 added in May and I love it!

Also in May snagged a "too cheap to pass up" bargain on this Citizen Promaster. Added the bracelet later as it compliments the watch imo.

These shots are all from my WRUW posts here. I love these watches I’ve gotten this year and, like you can see, they look good on me.

The last one was obviously after your yachting trip.

2 went out this year, and 4 came back in. I am hoping to send more out next year.

Pretty modest, but I'm very happy. The ST and U1P are my favorite modern Speedy and favorite U1 iterations. I like those two so much it's ridiculous.

Let's see what you added to the collection this year

Post by hoppyjr » Tue Dec 05, 2017 4:52 pm

This year my ever rotating “keepers” all left, as expected. I toyed with the idea of a two watch exit strategy; the 114060 and 14060 Submariners. It didn’t happen, but I got close with the 114060 and 214270 Explorer. Neither stuck.

The only watch that remains is the Weiss Field Watch, but it never gets worn.

Three that remain are 216570, EZM9, and EZM1.1. It seems I’m still looking for the exit strategy, but I desire sameness; date or no date, cyclops or no cyclops, etc. My watch related OCD doesn’t like to mix up styles too much. I’m weird.

I want an explorer 1 and ND sub really badly. They would make the perfect trio with my Daytona.

^^^^ Me too. Those with my SD and I really would be done. The fricking SS Rolex situation is out of control right now though.

Yes. It's crazy. $8,000 for a 14060m that I'd actually want? Lame.

I really don't think so. Rolex will eventually release more new models that don't suck.

I'll pay what it costs to get what I want, but not under the premise that prices only rise.

I’m still hopeful for some type of “heritage Submariner” with the 5-digit style case and aluminum bezel, even if a bit larger. Rolex year my prayers!

Hop, how does the 216570 wear vs the 1.1?

I just don’t see it happening. They never move backwards. Slow, yes. But never backwards.

This was a slow year compared to the last three, mostly sold stuff, although last week I got three watches (but then again, sold three):

Sold my first Rolex, Explorer II 216570. Love the aesthetics but a tad too big for me

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

Bought and sold the bronze Oris Carl Brashear LE. Cool watch, just not for me

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

Got a SRP777 NAFT, what a cool watch

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

Which I later sold to get a PADI NAFT

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

Sold the Alpina Startimer and the Oris 65 (I will buy back another 65 next year for sure)

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

Was finally able to get a Sinn 556 Weiss last week, plus an unexpected watch I'm liking a lot, the Seiko Presage "Cocktail Time"

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

ImageUntitled by jraul7, on Flickr

Also bought and sold around 6 G shocks. Started the year with just one and now I have 5. These are some of them:

The eternal keepers (Omega trio) are still here:

Plans for next year (besides the Oris 65) are: Sinn EZM 13, maybe another Heuer 980 and a Rolex... not sure if Sub (14060M would be nice) or Explorer 214270. Would love a SD4k but I dont think I would be able to do it in 2018.
