Unboxing.

Post by ericf4 » Tue Nov 14, 2017 7:42 pm

I am blown away by how high tech this ride is.

Drives itself even in traffic with stop and go where you don't steer or apply gas or brakes. Wtf?

Parks itself both parallel or horizontal

WiFi built in for all Inside

About 1000 safety features that are incredible and frankly hard to believe really work.

Headlights turn with the car

Car wakes you if it feels you are dozing off and directs you to nearest rest area etc.

Has a 12.5 inch touchscreen to control all elements of the car.

Lots of crazy shit I'm missing here also. Will need a few weeks of use to figure it all out. They take you through a 2 hour personalization of the car. I didn't have time so will do in a few weeks.

Frankly has the most beautiful interior of any car I've driven. The design is gorgeous. Inside and out.

This is just a few off the top of my head. I'm amazed. Having them deliver it to my house tomorrow. 2018 XC60 Momentum with Vision Pack, convenience pack and other shit I never knew I needed. Til now.

No watches for a bit. A bit. Not too long but a while. ;)

Cool. Hopefully so that tech doesn't translate to it being at the dealer often for repairs. I like styling, but I'd be scared of reliability.

Nice ride! On a side note though. Not sure the world needs a car that can drive itself. People stare at their phone too much while driving now. This will just give them a false sense of security.

I think it will be reliable. They said hardware is Rock solid. The system gets updates like a smartphone periodically via the built in LTE etc.

Fuck that I don't text and drive. I'm gonna sleep while driving. Or change underwear etc while driving. That's what I've needed forever.

Just forgot I can't sleep at the wheel dammit. The car wakes you and routes to nearest rest stop. Shit.

What would you expect them to say, "this thing's a piece of shit and it's going to break"? IIRC you always lease. If so, long term reliability isn't such a huge deal.

Lease was the right move. You should use that autonomous crap for better activities than changing underwear.

Hopefully you’ll have better luck than we did. Our Volvo was the worst car we’ve owned (not counting the 1979 Dodge van I briefly owned in 1984) Our Volvo ate three transmissions before 35,000 miles. Traded that bitch in for a then new 2004 Dodge Durango, which was one of our best vehicles owned. (Odd it’s a Dodge too).

It’s pretty tho

I thought Volvos always leased terribly? We went to go lease one (forget the model), the sales guy laughed and said it would almost be twice the price of her X3, hence why we went with the X3.

i feel like i got a pretty aggressive lease from them. They don't offer crazy deals on it right now as they are very hot new car. They do have lease specials on their site i saw (On base models). I got mine with a bunch of extra packages for slightly higher price. $500/month, i put 5k all in down on my points credit card of course :). Their base lease is like $3989 total down and $449/month. they do 39 month leases 12k miles a year. Even their base models are pretty damn loaded with tech.

Also free maintenance for the entire lease, they come to the house to get and return the car for service etc. Free Volvo Oncall service the whole lease etc.

^ do you get to the Swedish reacharound with purchase?

I understand it to be done with cold hands, using lingonberry jam as lube, while simultaneously eating IKEA meatballs and listening to ABBA. Todd was going to offer this with the next Karlskrona Model (called Gorska) but word is he ran out of jam.
