Nope! Even a laser-blocker can't save you! Although they aren't illegal (yet) in Canada, when I can't get a reading with LiDar, I stop the vehicle and write the ticket, based on my speed estimation.CGSshorty wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 8:04 pmNothing can save you from laser.ItnStln wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 7:24 pmThat they are! I've been saved from laser with mine when they're shooting vehicles on multi lane highways near me a get "splatter " that mine picks up. Also the real time reporting of speed traps via gps from other same brand users is invaluable.CGSshorty wrote:Nothing can save you from laser.ItnStln wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 7:24 pmThat they are! That's not how laser works. If I can see you (which I will long before you see me) and I can get a lock with the gun, you are done. Radar is much less focused. When I'm using radar I'll just sit in plain sight with it on the whole time and grab anyone stupid enough to get caught. My threshold is super high, too.Captdave wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2017 9:55 pmI've been saved from laser with mine when they're shooting vehicles on multi lane highways near me a get "splatter " that mine picks up. Thank you. It's babied. Driven mainly in nice weather even though we have a hardtop for it. Not a daily driver. Beginning to look at Porsche to add to fleet or replace this one. And yes that is a radar detector in the windshield.ItnStln wrote:It looks like you took care of it.Captdave wrote:99ItnStln wrote:Nice, what year?Captdave wrote:This one in for an oil change and rotation today.

A radar detector was the first thing I bought when I got my first car. I'm thinking about getting one of the Escort MAX CI 360 when I get my next car so I can use it in Virginia.Captdave wrote:Thank you. It's babied. I always check out Bell. They're owned by Escort and many times have the same or similar features for significantly less $ItnStln wrote:A radar detector was the first thing I bought when I got my first car. Had a red 1999 a couple of years ago, super fun car. Wish I would have kept it. Not a big fan of convertibles as the weather here is very hot... been thinking about a Subaru BRZ / Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S as a fun, weekend car.ItnStln wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 5:10 pmI wasn't aware of that, thanks for the tip!Captdave wrote:I always check out Bell. Re: What do you drive???
They are, but the Escort MAX CI 360 is hardwired into the car and not mounted to the windshield. Since it can’t be seen, I’d guess it’d be safe to use in Virginia. Unless I’m missing something which is possible.zepp21 wrote:Beware of Virginia laws.
