Doxa Newbie looking for guidance.
Hello all!
I am looking for some information/advice about a Doxa 300T Sharkhunter, similar to the one pictured below:
My son was given the watch by a boyfriend of his mother's. He is not interested in watches to the extent I am, and is wanting to sell the watch. He has asked me for his help, but I know nothing of Doxa's except for what I have read in the last few days (which has me fascinated by them!), so I am looking for some guidance from the experts here. As best we can tell, it is a 1967 Sub 300T Sharkhunter Automatic w/ black face and Diver logo on the face. There is currently no band on it, and we do not have box, paperwork or original band. The watch is used, but in good, working condition.
We took it to a friend at a local high-end jeweler for his opinion, and he called to say he has a watch-collector client that would be willing to pay $1,200 for the watch. Based on what I have read about the vintage Doxa's, that seems to be on the low end of the values that I have seen. Can any of you give me any guidance for how much the watch might be worth, what to look for, and any ideas on an appropriate venue to sell the watch? We have thought about eBay, but wondered if specialized forums weren't a better place to try?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give! He is hoping to use the money from the sale to help pay his college tuition, so we are hoping to get the most money we can reasonably hope for for the watch.
Looking forward to you thoughts!

That's my picture
The boys are right.. need pictures. There's a lot of variables here. Is it early aqua lung with sailboat case back? No Aqualung? Meters or feet bezel? Synchron era? Aubrey era? How was the bracelet? Length? What clasp(thin, thin thumb catch, wide? All of that has serious variables to the value. Private message me pictures and info and I'll see if I can help you.

Why do people ask for help and then *poof* disappear and never open PM's....
