Seiko SBDC051/053
Seiko SBDC051/053
Ed requested images of this watch on a NATO so I thought it would be better to start a new thread instead of continuing to bog down the 62MAS reissue thread. This is a very different watch and I don't want to take away from the beautiful SLA017.
Here are pictures on various NATO straps as requested.

A few size comparison shots. Wears a little bigger than the SKX but not any thicker. Certainly wears smaller than the Sinn U1. Lug to Lug might be longer but it is lighter and more contoured.

That's a really nice watch. I like the case contours, and the hands have grown on me to the point I actually like them on this watch.
Re: Seiko SBDC051/053
Good call with the new thread.
I agree that for its apparent size, it wears incredibly well. I'm finding they look huge in pics, but in reality it just doesn't seem that way on the wrist. It's completely cliched, but this is one of the ones you may just have to have to see in-person to really appreciate it.
I don't mind the hands at all. I warmed up to them on the new Tunas and think they work perfectly for this watch.

I'm starting to come around on the hands as well. At first it bothered me that they are not polished like the indices, but the second hand is thin and highly polished and catches the light as it sweeps which works to balance it. Can't tell from photos.

L2L looks more manageable in these pics. I need to check one of these out. Would love to see comparo shoes with a NAFT.

Re: Seiko SBDC051/053
Or offfering two sizes. I guess they needed to create some space between this and the LE.
It looks great until it's shown next to a speedy pro - which it dwarfs.

That is awesome! Thanks for posting.

Is the SRP really that big?Seppia wrote:Makes sense.JP Chestnut wrote:Or offfering two sizes. I guess they needed to create some space between this and the LE.

Still, the fact that aside from the SKX* they have no regular production diver that's conservatively sized remains incomprehensible.

I actually prefer how the SBDC wears. The SRP's always feel a little blob-like to me because the cushion case is so pronounced. I think the SBDC lugs balance things out a little better.

Re: Seiko SBDC051/053
I've often remarked about the inverse relationship between size and cost with seiko. Of course, seiko has now begun to seriously ruin their expensive watches by making them enormous too.
That's why the LE was so popular. People want normal sized watches. I'd love a 40mm MM300.

I can't wait to find a blue one in stock. Same for me, I'm over turtles, prefer normal case shape

Thanks for this thread. I like that watch in spite of the hour hand but it may be too long for me.
I'll wait a few months and grab a blue one

Re: Seiko SBDC051/053
Not sure, but this is a standard ISO. It probably looks much more exaggerated in the pic. TBH the OEM rubber is the right one for this watch, but the tail is too long for me. I may cut mine once I'm 100% sure this is a keeper and wear it exclusively on that.

Guys, at the risk of sounding like an ignoramous I have to ask: where are you getting these? I've spoken to a pair of AD's here Stateside and they tell me they won't have them until October or November? Would love to try one sooner.
