Amazon Firestick
Amazon Firestick
Great device. We've seen most of the movies with it.
My question is if there's a way to view premium cable shows and disconnect from all but basic cable?

I believe both HBO and Showtime have stand-alone apps for the Fire.aikiman44 wrote:Great device. We've seen most of the movies with it.

Even if 10-15 per month each, still cheaper than the beating from Comcast.
I'm considering the same.
Re: Amazon Firestick
yes, add Kodi to it.......
and yes the premium networks do have apps for firestick....HBO, etc.

Re: Amazon Firestick
We use HBO Now and it is fine. There are multiple legit options for getting full cable via the Firestick apps. The three I know of are Playstation Vue, Sling TV and Directv Now. I trialed them over the holidays and then payed for 1 month of Directv Now during March Madness. They have tiered cable packages just like with regular cable, but it is all internet based through apps, so no bullshit hidden fees. You can also start and stop your subscription at a moment's notice online. They all have trials. I recommend the trials as I have heard some do not work great in certain areas. I'm planning to just fire them up during bowl season and in March and then cancel for the rest of the year since ESPN is really the only part about Cable that I miss. Everything else I can get through HULU/Amazon/Netflix.
FYI, we were paying like $120/month for ATT Uverse cable, including the DVR, 3 HD TV upcharges, etc..... Now we have three firesticks with Hulu, HBO Now, Amazon Prime and Netflix subscriptions and are still paying only around $45-$50/month.

Re: Amazon Firestick
Just took my cable boxes to time warner/ spectrum this afternoon. After the price hike when spectrum took over, that was the last straw.
As of today we are Netflix and jail broken- kodi forestick only.
Saving $110 a month

BTW- I've only had the fire stick for 2 weeks. I've yet to figure it all out. It's pretty cool so far.

I'm not about stealing anything, but maybe the cable companies could see the writing on the wall.
Re: Amazon Firestick
You can pay $30/month for cable channels (ESPN) through the net using the Directv Now, Playstation Vue or Sling and get it on all of your TV's in HD. Far cheaper than traditional cable.Grahamcombat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2017 12:30 pmHow do you watch football?

Re: Amazon Firestick
I'll call Comcast and see if I'm in a contract. If not I think SlingTV with HBO & Showtime will work.
Do any of those services give you Fox News Channel?

Interesting cost saving cable options.

Re: Amazon Firestick
I've been using Ooma for 3 years. It's excellent and runs about $4.50 per month, which is just the local taxes. Once you buy the unit there is no monthly cost above taxes.mattcantwin wrote:Yes, landline.

Thanks, Ed.
Lots of reviews to look through on Amazon.
